- • Lead Zapier's legal function as General Counsel, serving on the executive team to enable rapid innovation while managing risk responsibly in a high-growth SaaS and AI-driven environment.
- • Drive legal strategy across AI, product, commercial, privacy, employment, and corporate governance domains, translating business goals into actionable legal priorities and proactive risk management.
- • Mentor and scale a distributed legal team, building AI-powered legal operations including automated workflows, playbooks, intake systems, and metrics to maximize efficiency and value.
- • Partner with executive leadership, Sales, Partnerships, Finance, and Engineering to accelerate deal velocity, support global expansion, and advise on high-stakes decisions including M&A, financings, and equity programs.
🎯 Requirements
- • J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. state bar membership in good standing.
- • 15+ years of legal experience, with significant in-house experience at a high-growth technology company; SaaS, platform, developer tools, or AI experience strongly preferred.
- • Proven track record as General Counsel, Deputy GC, or VP of Legal at a scaled tech company, with expertise in AI and product law, commercial transactions, data privacy, M&A, and corporate governance.
- • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, distributed legal teams in async-heavy environments, including hiring, development, and creating cross-time-zone team culture.
- • Fluency in AI as a force multiplier for legal work, with experience building or overseeing AI-powered legal workflows such as contract review, triage, and compliance monitoring.
- • Ability to navigate ambiguity, default to enabling the business, and communicate complex legal issues in plain language for diverse audiences.
