• • This pivotal Quality Assurance Specialist role within the Global Markets Trade and Communications Surveillance team is designed to uphold the integrity and effectiveness of market surveillance frameworks across the APAC region.
• • You will be instrumental in ensuring that both the first line of defence (FOCS team/1LOD) and the second line of defence (M&S team/2LOD) adhere rigorously to legal, regulatory, and internal bank policy requirements, safeguarding the institution against market misconduct and compliance breaches.
• • A core function of this position involves conducting targeted Quality Assurance (QA) reviews. This means meticulously re-performing controls and evaluating the investigations undertaken by the FOCS and M&S teams concerning trade and communications alerts.
• • Your work will directly contribute to the continuous improvement and reinforcement of the monitoring and surveillance processes, ensuring they remain robust and aligned with evolving regulatory landscapes.
• • You will be responsible for identifying potential issues and exception items during your reviews, escalating these findings to the Head of Quality Assurance APAC for further discussion, investigation, and resolution.
• • A key output of your role will be the preparation and distribution of comprehensive reports to Senior Compliance Management. These reports will detail your review findings, provide actionable recommendations, and offer insights into significant activities conducted and planned for the upcoming periods.
• • You will play a proactive role in anticipating future regulatory requirements, drawing insights from regulatory actions and guidance. This foresight will enable you to ensure these emerging requirements are met within the APAC surveillance program and to implement necessary compensating controls to effectively manage associated risks.
• • Enhancing the APAC M&S procedures will be another critical aspect of your responsibilities. You will work to formalize local controls, ensuring they are in complete alignment with Group requirements, which includes the diligent gathering and evidencing of supporting documentation.
• • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with colleagues across Financial Markets (FM)/Market Integrity (MI) and other Compliance teams on transversal quality control and assurance-related initiatives, fostering a unified approach to compliance.
• • You will be empowered to propose, develop, and execute new review methodologies to address emerging trends and identify potential red flags within the surveillance program, thereby staying ahead of potential risks.
• • By proposing process changes and escalating recommendations through MI Management, you will actively contribute to mitigating risks of exposure for the organization.
• • Your involvement in working groups focused on enhancing controls and improving the overall quality of the market surveillance program will be highly valued.
• • You will provide essential support to the Head of Quality Assurance APAC during examinations conducted by the Bank’s regulators and internal auditors (IG), ensuring all documentation and information is readily available and accurate.
• • Furthermore, you will assist in the monitoring and resolution of Internal Audit (IG) issues, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• • The role may also require you to conduct specific investigations and projects as deemed necessary by M&S/MI Management, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to risk management.
• • Ultimately, you will be responsible for executing the CIB Surveillance Permanent Challenge framework for both the first and second lines of defence within the APAC region, ensuring a robust and continuously challenged compliance environment.
• • This role demands a strong understanding of financial markets products and practical knowledge of trading activities, coupled with a solid grasp of conduct risk and market misconduct concepts.
