📋 Description

• As the first dedicated finance hire at Light & Wonder, Inc., you will own the financial books across three jurisdictions, ensuring IFRS-compliant reporting, statutory accounts, and group consolidation while directly shaping the evolution of the company’s AI-native financial platform. This role is pivotal in defining what ‘best-in-class finance’ looks like in a modern, automated stack, transforming finance from a manual, reactive function into a proactive, insight-driven engine.
• Day to day, you will lead month-end close processes including technical accounting, accruals, and intercompany reconciliations; manage statutory reporting and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors; produce management reporting packs for board and leadership; oversee compliance, VAT, and payroll calendars; monitor cash positions and FX exposure; own accounts payable and payment runs; and contribute to FP&A and investor relations as desired—all while leveraging Light’s own platform to drive efficiency and accuracy.
• You will join an early-stage, mission-driven team that treats finance as a product, blending deep financial rigor with a builder’s mindset to eliminate manual work through automation and AI tooling. 🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as the sole or secondary owner of a complete set of books, from trial balance to statutory accounts, with full accountability for financial reporting in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and defend IFRS-compliant financial statements independently, including technical accounting judgements on revenue recognition, provisions, and SBC, to external auditors.
• Background in Big 4 or mid-tier audit practice, or a smaller public company, where you were held to the highest standards of financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong builder instinct: you are frustrated by manual processes and motivated to design systems, automation, and tooling that eliminate repetitive work and increase efficiency.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI-driven financial tooling and the future of accounting, with the curiosity and drive to operate as a power user and advisor on product development.
• Comfort operating as the sole technical accounting authority, capable of making independent judgements and guiding financial strategy without extensive oversight.
