Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end success of every physical hardware deployment that touches the Wayleadr platform—from the first site survey to the moment the last gate closes smoothly behind a satisfied customer. You are the single technical authority who makes sure cameras, access readers, gates, and sensors work together flawlessly in the real world.
- • Act as the primary technical partner for Customer Success and Implementation Managers during onboarding, pilots, and large-scale rollouts. Translate customer floor plans, parking layouts, and security policies into rock-solid hardware designs that scale across hundreds of sites.
- • Design and validate complete deployment architectures: select optimal camera models and mounting angles for License Plate Recognition (LPR/ANPR), specify power and PoE requirements, lay out redundant network paths, and create detailed rack elevations and cabling diagrams. Flag risks such as glare, occlusion, or bandwidth bottlenecks before a single screw is turned.
- • Serve as the highest-level escalation point for hardware-related support tickets. Reproduce issues in lab environments, capture packet traces, interrogate firmware logs, and coordinate vendor RMAs—then turn the root-cause analysis into clear action items for Engineering, Product, and vendors alike.
- • Build and maintain a living library of implementation runbooks, deployment checklists, and troubleshooting playbooks. Ensure every field technician, systems integrator, and customer IT team follows the same gold standard, slashing deployment time and eliminating “snowflake” configurations.
- • Partner with Engineering to define new platform features driven by real-world constraints—think offline caching when a gate loses WAN, graceful degradation when a camera drops a frame, or automated certificate rotation for secure access readers. Your field insight turns edge cases into elegant product enhancements.
- • Continuously monitor device health across the fleet. Design dashboards and alerting rules that detect power fluctuations, firmware drift, or network anomalies before customers notice. Make “device outages are spotted by us first” a measurable KPI.
- • Evaluate, test, and certify new hardware models from vendors such as Axis, Genetec, Nedap, OpenPath, Latch, and Hikvision. Run side-by-side image-quality tests, latency benchmarks, and environmental stress tests to ensure every approved device meets Wayleadr’s reliability bar.
- • Occasionally travel to customer sites—whether a multi-level corporate garage in London or a logistics hub in Dubai—to lead on-site pilots, train local integrators, and de-escalate high-stakes issues. Your calm, data-driven presence turns skeptics into champions.
- • Champion security and compliance best practices: ensure camera streams are encrypted in transit and at rest, access logs are tamper-proof, and GDPR/CCPA data-retention policies are enforced at the hardware layer. Translate regulatory jargon into practical checklists for installers.
- • Drive continuous improvement loops: after every rollout, run post-mortems that feed back into tooling, documentation, and vendor negotiations. Reduce average deployment time by 30 % and hardware-related escalations to near zero within your first year.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and Legal to align hardware roadmaps with business goals. Present quarterly “voice of the field” reports that influence roadmap prioritization and vendor contracts.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years hands-on experience deploying and supporting physical security hardware—cameras, access control panels, gates, sensors, or IoT gateways—in customer environments.
- • Deep understanding of IP networking: VLANs, subnets, routing, firewalls, NAT, DNS, and PoE design.
- • Proven track record in a customer-facing technical role—solutions engineering, field engineering, or systems integration—where you owned escalations and delivered on-site support.
- • Demonstrated ability to read and produce technical drawings: floor plans, elevation views, network diagrams, and rack layouts.
- • Comfortable troubleshooting multi-layer issues spanning hardware, firmware, networking, and cloud APIs; familiar with packet capture tools and Linux CLI diagnostics.
- • Nice-to-have: prior experience with LPR/ANPR systems, cloud-based access control platforms, or vendors like Axis, Genetec, Nedap, OpenPath, Latch, or Hikvision.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary ranging from €45 k to €175 k, tailored to your experience and impact, plus meaningful stock options in a fast-growing SaaS scale-up.
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in inspiring global locations—previous editions included Lisbon, Austin, and Bali.
- • Annual hardware & home-office stipend so you can build the ultimate lab environment for testing cameras, switches, and access readers.
- • Flexible PTO policy and a “disconnect” bonus—receive an extra week off plus a travel voucher when you hit two years tenure.
- • Professional development budget of €3 k per year for certifications, conferences, or that advanced networking course you’ve always wanted.
