- • As Head of Data at Alternative Payments Ltd., you will own the intelligence layer across the company’s data assets, including accounting, payment, and operational data, to drive strategic decision-making and enable AI-powered analytics for SMBs in the financial technology space.
- • You will set the data architecture vision, own the data roadmap, and actively contribute to code while leading data engineering efforts, ensuring data quality, governance, and observability are embedded into systems from the ground up.
- • You will bridge technical data work with business strategy by translating leadership goals into actionable data products, enabling self-serve analytics, and preparing unified datasets for machine learning and AI workflows.
- • You will collaborate closely with AI engineering and product teams to structure data for retrieval-augmented generation, embedding models, and LLM-powered systems, ensuring upstream compatibility with the company’s AI roadmap.
- • You will lead cross-functional data projects end-to-end, from scoping and entity resolution at scale to delivery of partner-facing analytics, ensuring data is accurate, performant, and accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
- • You will operate in a hybrid role based in New York, working within a fast-growing, mission-driven fintech startup that values transparency, resourcefulness, partnership, and bold innovation in reshaping financial operations for service-based businesses.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, analytics, or a closely related field, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
- • Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to review and contribute to code, not just manage engineers.
- • Deep technical fluency with end-to-end data infrastructure, including ingestion, pipeline design, serving layers, and data model optimization.
- • Proven experience with ML-based data enrichment, entity resolution at scale, and determining when deterministic vs. ML approaches are appropriate.
- • Fluency with AI data patterns, including structuring data for retrieval-augmented generation, embedding search, and agent-based consumption.
- • Strong business context, enabling effective leadership conversations about commercial strategy alongside technical architecture.
