• • As the Head of DeFi at Monad Labs Inc., you will be at the forefront of driving the growth and innovation of decentralized finance within the Monad ecosystem. This pivotal role demands a strategic visionary with a hands-on approach, capable of shaping the future of DeFi on our high-performance, parallel EVM Layer 1 blockchain. You will be instrumental in transforming the Monad network into a premier destination for decentralized applications, attracting significant Total Value Locked (TVL), trading volume, and fee generation.
• • Your core responsibility will be to architect and execute a comprehensive DeFi growth strategy. This involves meticulously prioritizing initiatives across key sectors such as lending protocols, Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs), stablecoin infrastructure, Real-World Assets (RWAs), and sophisticated yield generation strategies. Success will be measured by tangible metrics including TVL growth, increased trading volumes, expansion of stablecoin market capitalization, growth in RWA adoption, and the generation of protocol fees.
• • A critical aspect of this role is the end-to-end management of asset and protocol onboarding. You will orchestrate complex processes, ensuring seamless integration of essential components like oracle feeds, liquidator services, DEX liquidity pool configurations, asset curation frameworks, and cross-chain bridging solutions. This requires meticulous coordination with various stakeholders and technical teams to ensure a robust and functional DeFi ecosystem.
• • You will serve as a key advisor to DeFi builders and development teams looking to deploy their protocols on the Monad network. Providing high-conviction, actionable feedback on protocol mechanics, identifying product gaps, and advising on market positioning will be crucial. Your insights will directly contribute to the success and competitiveness of projects within our ecosystem.
• • Leveraging your extensive network within the crypto space will be paramount. You will actively engage with high-net-worth individuals (whales), liquid crypto funds, influential curators, and founders of blue-chip DeFi protocols. The goal is to catalyze early liquidity provision and accelerate protocol traction, establishing Monad as a go-to platform.
• • A unique and vital part of your role will be bridging the gap between Decentralized Finance and traditional finance (TradFi) and fintech sectors. You will represent the Monad Foundation in high-level discussions with senior institutional executives, translating the strategic value and yield generation opportunities of on-chain infrastructure, such as advanced vault mechanisms, into terms that resonate with and drive action from traditional financial players.
• • You will be responsible for shaping and defending the incentive strategy for the Monad network. This involves making informed decisions about which initiatives are most effective in attracting durable, long-term TVL versus those that might attract transient, mercenary capital. Your approach will ensure sustainable growth and capital efficiency.
• • Leading and mentoring a team of 2-3 dedicated DeFi specialists is a key component of this player-coach role. You will set clear priorities, maintain a high tempo of execution, and foster a team culture characterized by rigor, a bias for action, and a deep understanding of DeFi principles.
• • You will need to possess a profound understanding of how top protocols on platforms like DefiLlama generate revenue. This includes dissecting the economic models of lending protocols (e.g., Aave, Morpho, Euler), collateralized debt positions (CDPs), DEXs, and yield-bearing stablecoins. You must be able to articulate the critical success factors for each category.
• • The ability to critically assess the frontend of a Monad-native protocol and provide sharp, insightful feedback on its strengths and weaknesses is essential. Furthermore, you must be able to effectively communicate the importance and value proposition of on-chain yield infrastructure to executives in traditional finance, demonstrating a clear grasp of the broader financial landscape.
• • Ultimately, your success will be measured by your ability to hold the entire DeFi picture in your mind and translate that comprehensive knowledge into concrete growth in TVL, volume, and fees generated on the Monad network.
