- • Lead a team of 14 designers, including 2 Design Leads managing ~6 ICs each, plus Design Engineering and UX Research, and own hiring, headcount planning, and team structure evolution.
- • Set and elevate the design quality bar by establishing clear review processes, critique rituals, and QA practices that enable consistent, high-standard outputs as the team scales.
- • Own the evolution of n8n’s design system and ensure its alignment with product complexity, user needs, and engineering implementation across technical and non-technical user segments.
- • Drive the strategic shift of n8n from a developer-centric platform to a broader builder audience, lowering the learning curve without sacrificing the power features loved by advanced users.
- • Embed design thinking into product strategy by actively participating in roadmap discussions, surfacing user problems before they become formal briefs, and ensuring design is a co-equal voice in leadership decisions.
- • Build and institutionalize a pragmatic, continuous UX research practice from the ground up, integrating customer insights, product data, and community feedback directly into decision-making cycles.
- • Use product analytics, research findings, and behavioral data to guide design decisions—replacing opinion-based choices with evidence-driven outcomes focused on activation, adoption, and retention.
- • Champion the adoption of AI tools within the design org for prototyping, research synthesis, design QA, and workflow efficiency, modeling adaptive and curious working habits in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
- • Establish strong, trusted partnerships with Product, Engineering, and executive leadership to ensure design is a strategic thought partner at every stage of product development.
- • Define clear career progression paths and performance management frameworks that support designer growth, accountability, and retention while maintaining high standards.
- • Foster a culture of honest feedback, psychological safety, and craft excellence where designers feel supported to take ownership and deliver exceptional work.
- • Promote practical AI adoption across design workflows, staying current with emerging patterns in AI-powered tools and translating them into usable, trustworthy product experiences.
- • Ensure design decisions are informed by real user behavior, not assumptions, by connecting research insights to key product metrics and user journey touchpoints.
- • Support the expansion of n8n’s global, remote-first design team by implementing collaboration, critique, and QA rituals that function effectively across time zones and distributed environments.
- • Maintain deep fluency in complex, developer-facing product systems where UX quality hinges on understanding technical workflows, integrations, and automation logic.
- • Advocate for and model transparency in decision-making, ensuring the entire team understands company goals, product direction, and design priorities.
