- • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system for GE HealthCare, with a strategic focus on ensuring robust EHS practices within our network of contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
- • Forge strong partnerships with contract manufacturers to guarantee adherence to GE HealthCare's stringent EHS standards, all applicable local and regional regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in safety and sustainability.
- • Spearhead pre-safety start-up reviews at contract manufacturing sites, meticulously assessing and confirming that all environmental, health, and safety prerequisites are comprehensively met before production activities commence.
- • Collaborate proactively with manufacturing teams to identify potential EHS risks early in the process and implement effective, proactive mitigation strategies to prevent incidents and ensure a safe operational environment.
- • Oversee and manage the critical process of annual written certifications of compliance from contract manufacturers, verifying that all manufacturing partners consistently uphold relevant environmental laws, GE HealthCare's established safety standards, and possess all necessary operational authorizations.
- • Conduct and direct periodic, thorough audits and inspections of contract manufacturing sites, ensuring strict compliance with both external regulatory mandates and GE HealthCare's internal EHS standards across all operational facets.
- • Audit key areas including, but not limited to, equipment safety, materials handling protocols, hazardous waste management, emergency preparedness, and general operational safety practices to identify and address any potential gaps.
- • Proactively assess and manage a wide spectrum of risks associated with contract manufacturing operations, developing and implementing appropriate, effective risk mitigation strategies to prevent EHS incidents and maintain a secure working environment for all personnel.
- • Provide expert guidance and support to contract manufacturers in addressing any EHS-related concerns, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk management throughout the supply chain.
- • Ensure that contract manufacturers provide comprehensive and appropriate EHS training to their entire workforce, ensuring alignment with GE HealthCare's specific requirements and global standards.
- • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of training programs and a detailed training matrix for all personnel involved in manufacturing activities, ensuring competency and awareness.
- • In the unfortunate event of an EHS-related incident, provide critical operational assistance, including leading thorough investigations, conducting root cause analyses, and ensuring the effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- • Facilitate the sharing of lessons learned from incident investigations across all relevant teams and contract manufacturing partners to prevent recurrence and drive systemic improvements.
- • Ensure that all contract manufacturers rigorously comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international EHS regulations, providing expert guidance on complex regulatory landscapes.
- • Assist contract manufacturers in maintaining essential documentation, such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Non-Hazardous Statements, and other critical compliance records.
- • Engage closely with GE HealthCare's senior leadership to strategically align EHS goals and initiatives with overarching business objectives, championing a strong safety culture and sustainability across the organization.
- • Advocate for the integration of safety and sustainability principles into all manufacturing operations, influencing decision-making at all levels.
- • Provide essential EHS support to EHS teams across GE HealthCare's global operations, particularly concerning contract manufacturing oversight and regulatory compliance, ensuring the consistent application of high standards worldwide.
- • Offer crucial EHS support during new product development phases, ensuring that safety and regulatory considerations are embedded from the outset, minimizing future risks and ensuring compliance.
- • Collaborate effectively with suppliers and contract manufacturers to drive impactful sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with GE HealthCare's ambitious sustainability goals and contributing to a reduced environmental footprint.
- • Work with external stakeholders to proactively address environmental challenges and identify opportunities to minimize the environmental impact of our products and manufacturing processes.
- • Undertake up to 35% travel to contract manufacturing sites and other remote locations to conduct essential audits, perform inspections, and foster collaborative relationships with contract manufacturers, particularly during the initial phase of the role to establish governance and assurance processes.
