- • Lead the engineering organization responsible for Deel’s end-to-end financial infrastructure, including payments orchestration, wallets, general ledger, treasury, billing, reconciliation, and fincrime systems.
- • Define and execute the technical strategy for scalable, modular financial systems, driving evolution toward real-time, event-driven architectures.
- • Partner with Product, Finance, Treasury, and Compliance to ensure engineering delivers business outcomes, not just features, embedding product thinking into engineering culture.
- • Build systems for scale, accuracy, and reliability, ensuring idempotency, consistency, and fault tolerance across high-volume global financial flows.
- • Drive IPO-grade financial infrastructure by strengthening controls (SOX readiness, auditability), compliance (KYC, AML, regulated entities), and accounting (fast close, General Ledger, automation).
- • Integrate AI as a core building block across engineering (LLMs for code generation, reviews), financial systems (reconciliation, accounting validation, transaction monitoring), and operations (risk detection, explainable discrepancies).
- • Design and evolve MCP server infrastructure to enable safe, auditable AI-assisted financial workflows with strong governance and guardrails.
- • Establish operational excellence through strong engineering processes, SLAs, monitoring, and incident reduction for financial data integrity.
- • Lead, hire, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams across payments, ledger, treasury, billing, reconciliation, and fincrime, fostering ownership, speed with control, and accountability.
- • Drive cross-team alignment across Product, Finance, Legal, and Compliance to resolve friction and unblock execution on complex initiatives.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as Head of Engineering, Director, or Senior Engineering Manager in fintech or financial systems.
- • Built or scaled systems at companies like Stripe, Adyen, PayPal, Wise, Revolut, Coinbase, or similar.
- • Deep experience with payments infrastructure, ledger/accounting systems, and high-scale distributed systems.
- • Experience in regulated environments including KYC/AML, compliance systems, and financial reporting constraints.
- • Strong backend expertise (Node.js/TypeScript preferred) with understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data consistency.
- • Experience scaling systems handling billions in transaction volume with high concurrency, idempotency, and strong audit trails.
- • Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions with strong prioritization and product mindset.
- • Experience managing multiple teams and senior leaders, with strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
