📋 Description

• As the Head of Events, APAC, you will be instrumental in shaping how OpenAI connects with diverse audiences across the Asia-Pacific region, leveraging events as a pivotal engine for marketing, community building, and fostering trust in artificial intelligence. This leadership role is crucial for translating OpenAI's mission and the transformative power of AI into tangible, impactful experiences that resonate with developers, customers, executives, policymakers, creatives, and emerging innovators.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass the strategic leadership and operational scaling of OpenAI’s event ecosystem throughout the APAC region. This involves managing a dedicated regional team of Producers and Event Managers, as well as contingent workforce partners, to successfully deliver a wide array of programs across key markets such as India and Southeast Asia. You will be tasked with translating high-level strategic business priorities into concrete, executable event programs, meticulously operationalizing experiences that range from large-scale, high-energy flagship conferences designed to make a significant impact, to more intimate, targeted community gatherings and exclusive, white-glove executive engagements. A key aspect of your role will be to establish clear operating models, robust resourcing frameworks, and stringent production standards that mirror US-based operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across the diverse cultural and market landscapes within APAC. You will direct the end-to-end program delivery, maintaining tight alignment, clear accountability, and driving operational excellence across every event. Furthermore, you will focus on building scalable systems, comprehensive playbooks, and a strong vendor ecosystem that will enable OpenAI’s event footprint to grow efficiently and effectively, without ever compromising on the quality of the craft or the guest experience.
• You will operate as a key cross-functional partner, collaborating closely with leaders from Marketing, Go-to-Market (GTM) teams, Product, Policy, and Communications. This collaboration is essential to ensure that regional event programs not only advance critical business goals but also actively strengthen trust and cultivate a vibrant community across the entire APAC region. Your leadership will be vital in mentoring and developing a high-performing regional team, fostering a collaborative and empowering culture that is deeply rooted in a commitment to excellence, creativity, and shared ownership of success. You will be expected to balance a long-term strategic vision with a hands-on approach to execution, actively working to remove obstacles for your teams, elevate the quality of all programs, and create memorable, distinctly OpenAI experiences.

🎯 Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience leading large-scale, high-impact event programs, typically at a Director level within global or fast-growing organizations.
• Proven ability to build, scale, and evolve an events organization across diverse markets and stages of growth.
• Exceptional people leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to invest in team development, create clarity, and foster a high-trust, low-ego culture.
• Comfort and capability operating at both strategic and executional levels, with world-class expertise across logistics, production, and operational planning.
• Strong judgment and calm leadership demonstrated in complex, fast-moving environments, with the ability to balance long-term vision with hands-on problem-solving.
• Deep curiosity about artificial intelligence and motivation by technology’s potential to meaningfully improve how people live and work.
