- • The Marketing and Communications Manager, Southeast Europe will advance The Nature Conservancy’s conservation impact across the Western Balkans by supporting freshwater protection and nature-positive renewable energy initiatives through strategic communications.
- • This role is critical to raising awareness, influencing decision-makers, and supporting fundraising efforts that drive real-world environmental outcomes in a high-impact, mission-driven organization.
- • Day to day, the manager will co-create and lead the implementation of the Southeast Europe marketing and communications strategy aligned with TNC’s brand and conservation priorities.
- • They will develop and execute communications plans for freshwater conservation and renewable energy programs, including campaign support, milestone announcements, and fundraising objectives.
- • The role involves managing media engagement across the region—cultivating journalist relationships, drafting press materials, and preparing spokespersons for interviews and public appearances.
- • They will plan, create, edit, and distribute high-quality content across websites, newsletters, donor reports, blogs, fact sheets, and social media platforms.
- • The manager will oversee digital platforms relevant to Southeast Europe, ensuring content accuracy, engagement, and brand consistency.
- • They will lead communications for the United for Rivers campaign, coordinating digital content, partner outreach, and reporting.
- • Supporting TNC’s renewable energy program in Southeast Europe, they will identify storytelling opportunities, develop materials, and assist with events and partnership building.
- • The role contributes to fundraising through proposal inputs, donor reports, presentations, briefings, and site visit materials.
- • Regular coordination with Europe and Global Marketing and Communications teams ensures alignment on messaging and participation in pan-European and global campaigns.
- • They will track progress against communications objectives, prepare reports and insights for internal stakeholders, and manage multiple projects within timelines and budgets.
- • While not managing staff directly, they may coordinate peers, consultants, or external vendors as needed.
- • The role offers the opportunity to work within a matrixed, multi-country organization, collaborating with conservation teams, global communications, and external partners across Southeast Europe.
- • The person in this role will gain deep experience in mission-driven communications, environmental storytelling, and stakeholder engagement in a culturally diverse and politically nuanced region.
- • They will develop expertise in integrating communications with conservation goals, influencing policy and public opinion, and supporting nature-based solutions to climate and water challenges.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- • Proven experience writing, editing, and proofreading high-quality communications materials in English, with proficiency in Serbian and Croatian; knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian is beneficial.
- • Experience managing digital platforms and social media channels, including content planning, creation, and analytics.
- • Media relations experience, including pitching stories to journalists and supporting spokesperson preparation.
- • Experience supporting fundraising communications and donor reporting, including proposal inputs and impact reporting.
- • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple competing priorities across projects and timelines.
