- • As the Head of Finance / Expert in Residence at Sequence, you will serve as both the internal finance leader and a subject matter expert for product and engineering teams, directly influencing revenue recognition, billing modules, and go-to-market strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping how Sequence serves finance teams by bridging deep financial expertise with product innovation.
- • Day to day, you will oversee month-end close and reconciliation with fractional accounting teams, own revenue recognition policy and audit readiness, manage liquidity across bank accounts, establish scalable finance processes using tools like QBO, Xero, Sequence, Ramp, Gusto, and Payfit, and lead the transition to an in-house accounting function.
- • Sequence is an AI-native billing and quote-to-cash platform for modern B2B teams, backed by a16z, 645 Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures, with a recent Series A round. The company serves clients like Bridge (Stripe), incident.io, and Cognition (Devin), and is led by serial entrepreneurs focused on transforming financial operations through automation and AI.
- • In this role, you will gain unparalleled exposure to product development, GTM strategy, and executive leadership, with the opportunity to represent Sequence at customer events, prospect calls, and industry presentations. You will build lasting impact across Finance, Product, and GTM while growing with a high-potential startup through equity-backed long-term commitment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Qualified accountant (CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with ability to close books autonomously
- • 4+ years experience in fast-growing B2B SaaS / AI scaleups
- • Ability to work across London and NYC time zones
- • Proven track record of success in prior roles with intent to stay 3-4+ years
- • Bonus: Capable of building FP&A models and preparing quarterly board updates
- • Bonus: Experience scaling from Series A to C+ in fast-paced environments
