- • As Head of Global Employment Law & Litigation at 8x8, you will serve as the primary legal authority on all global employment matters and litigation strategy, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer and partnering closely with People & Workplaces (HR) to shape compliant, forward-thinking workforce policies across the U.S., UK, EU, and APAC regions.
- • You will deliver business-oriented, risk-balanced counsel on hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations, reductions in force, accommodations under ADA and global equivalents, leave management, employee privacy, works councils, compensation equity, and proactive compliance with evolving pay transparency laws, while conducting and overseeing internal investigations in coordination with Security and HR teams.
- • You will lead all stages of employment and commercial litigation—including pre-dispute assessment, pleadings, discovery, motions, witness preparation, trial, appeal, and settlement—managing outside counsel, controlling costs, and continuously improving internal litigation workflows and matter management systems.
- • You will champion the adoption of AI-powered legal tools such as AI-assisted research, contract analysis, document review, and workflow automation to enhance efficiency and quality, actively contributing to the Legal team’s innovation strategy and sharing best practices on emerging legal technologies.
- • You will partner with product, engineering, finance, and security teams to proactively identify and mitigate litigation risks, advise on employment implications of AI deployment (e.g., automated hiring tools, performance monitoring), and support global employment projects including handbook updates, code of conduct revisions, and jurisdiction-specific policy development.
- • You will operate as a strategic business partner in a fast-paced, remote-first technology environment, exercising independent judgment to manage a high-volume workload of time-sensitive matters while advancing long-term initiatives that align with 8x8’s global growth and innovation goals.
- • You will join a collaborative, high-trust legal culture that values intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, and solutions-oriented advice, with direct access to executive leadership and the opportunity to help define the future of in-house legal operations at a multinational tech company.
🎯 Requirements
- • J.D. from a nationally recognized law school with active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
- • 10+ years of relevant employment law and litigation experience, including 4+ years at a well-regarded law firm practicing employment litigation and meaningful in-house counsel experience at a multinational technology company.
- • Substantial hands-on litigation experience managing discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, trial, arbitration, and appeal in state/federal courts, with deep expertise in U.S. employment law and proven experience advising on employment matters in the UK, EU, or APAC jurisdictions.
- • Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic business partner—delivering practical, solutions-oriented legal advice that aligns with company goals, calibrates risk effectively, and builds trust-based relationships across functions and geographies.
- • Excellent judgment, self-motivation, integrity, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle complex matters independently in a remote environment while managing a substantial workload of time-sensitive and strategic projects.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly to both legal and non-legal audiences.
- • Demonstrated AI fluency and enthusiasm for leveraging artificial intelligence tools (e.g., AI-assisted research, document review, contract analysis) to enhance legal work product, research, and operational efficiency.
