• • As the Head of IT & Information Security, you will be instrumental in building the foundational security and operational framework for a company at the vanguard of the AI revolution. This pivotal role encompasses ownership of our internal infrastructure, the company's overall cybersecurity posture, and the implementation and maintenance of robust compliance frameworks. Your primary mission is to maintain a proactive stance, anticipating and neutralizing operational friction before it escalates into critical issues. Simultaneously, you will architect and implement a security program that meets and exceeds the stringent requirements of enterprise-level scrutiny, including standards like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
• • Your contributions will have a direct and significant impact on the quality of life for the entire team by fostering a culture of high autonomy and minimizing operational disruptions. Furthermore, your work will serve as a key catalyst for the accelerated growth of our rapidly expanding venture. You will be integrating into a flat, dynamic organizational structure during a critical scale-up phase. The company is led by an accomplished researcher with deep expertise in reinforcement learning, deep learning, and robotics, formerly of DeepMind. Having successfully closed a $13.9 million CAD seed round in March 2025, we are aggressively scaling our R&D and delivery capabilities to meet escalating demand, with a projected headcount doubling by the end of the year.
• • This role involves a thematic responsibility for proactive operational strategy. You will be tasked with designing and continuously refining internal systems and workflows to ensure the company remains organized, secure, and highly productive as it scales. A key aspect of this will be rationalizing our tooling stack to eliminate redundancy, enhance security controls, and maintain cost efficiency. Your leadership in cybersecurity and compliance will be paramount. You will own the security program from end to end, ensuring the company remains audit-ready through the establishment of strong policies, rigorous testing, continuous monitoring, and effective incident response protocols. You will collaborate closely with our go-to-market teams to manage enterprise security diligence processes and respond to questionnaires in a manner that cultivates customer trust and sustains sales momentum.
• • In terms of IT operations and management, you will treat day-to-day IT as a product. This includes comprehensive vendor management of our Managed Service Providers (MSPs), robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, and meticulous management of the device and software lifecycle. Your objective is to build a secure, low-friction environment for all teams, with an emphasis on heightened security measures for sensitive R&D access and data. You will foster cross-team collaboration by partnering closely with leaders across Engineering, Product, and Go-to-Market functions. This collaboration is essential for aligning priorities, proactively removing blockers, and driving execution against the company's most impactful strategic initiatives.
• • The technical landscape you will navigate includes major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. We utilize Linux as our primary operating system, with a backend built on Python (Flask, FastAPI) and TypeScript Node.js. Orchestration and compute are managed via Kubernetes and on-prem bare metal/VMs, with Docker for containerization. Our monitoring, observability, and logging infrastructure relies on Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack. For databases and storage, we employ SQL, InfluxDB, and MongoDB. Messaging and IoT communication leverage MQTT, HTTP REST, RabbitMQ, and Apache Kafka. Our edge platforms include NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi (ARM), utilizing CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX, and OpenVINO for GPU acceleration. ML/DL frameworks in use are PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, and scikit-learn, supported by scientific computing libraries like NumPy and Pandas. Computer vision is handled by OpenCV, with cameras and vision I/O managed through GenICam, GigE Vision, and USB3 Vision standards. We also engage with industrial automation systems, including PLC integration via protocols like Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, and OPC UA.
• • This role may involve participation in an on-call rotation that includes evenings and weekends, ensuring continuous support for our critical operations.
