📋 Description

• As Head of People at Far AI, Inc., you will build and scale the people operations function to support growth from 40 to 75+ employees over the next 12 months across multiple geographies and entities, taking ownership of the entire employee lifecycle.
• Day to day, you will own HRIS, payroll coordination, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, culture initiatives, and serve as a trusted people partner to leadership while hiring and developing the People team.
• Far AI, Inc. is a non-profit AI research institute dedicated to ensuring advanced AI is safe and beneficial, working at the intersection of machine learning, safety research, and policy, with global impact through publications, red-teaming frontier models, and operating FAR.Labs in Berkeley.
• In this role, you will build scalable people systems, drive inclusive culture, gain end-to-end ownership of HR functions in a high-growth mission-driven organization, and help define the operational backbone of the AI safety field while working with Turing Award winners and frontier lab experts.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in HR or People, including at least 3 years leading a People team or major sub-function
• Proven results filling difficult seats with top talent in full-cycle recruiting, preferably with technical roles, using innovative sourcing and employer branding strategies
• Demonstrated experience scaling a people function through significant headcount growth, including doubling year-on-year
• Hands-on experience owning or substantially building at least three of: HRIS implementation, performance management systems, compensation frameworks, hiring infrastructure, or international employment via EOR
• Operator mindset with ability to build systems and processes independently, comfortable with ambiguity and biased toward simple solutions
• Strong judgment on sensitive personnel matters with direct, candid, and respectful communication
• Natural relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills and ability to craft compelling messages about mission and opportunities
