  • • Lead the vision and strategy for Total Rewards as a core talent-density lever at Notion, shaping compensation, equity, and benefits programs that drive motivation, retention, and high performance.
  • • Design and evolve a clear, scalable compensation philosophy aligned with Notion’s strategy, values, and operating model, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness across all levels.
  • • Own the compensation architecture including job leveling, pay bands, market pricing strategies, and decision frameworks to enable consistent, nuanced scaling without losing precision.
  • • Build fast, high-quality systems for making compensation decisions on offers, promotions, internal mobility, retention, and exceptions, reducing delays while maintaining rigor.
  • • Lead global equity strategy across the employee lifecycle, partnering with Finance and Legal to design, refresh, and communicate equity frameworks that remain competitive and compliant worldwide.
  • • Establish transparent narratives and guidelines that help leaders and employees understand how equity works at Notion, fostering trust and clarity.
  • • Own executive compensation programs and serve as the primary liaison to the Board and Compensation Committee, preparing defensible analyses, recommendations, and governance materials.
  • • Design and ship AI-forward total rewards tooling using Notion and other platforms to automate benchmarking, scenario modeling, insights generation, and manager enablement workflows.
  • • Identify opportunities to use AI to remove administrative busywork and increase decision velocity while improving data quality and operational efficiency.
  • • Establish metrics, dashboards, and monitoring systems to track competitiveness, pay equity, spend, and program effectiveness, translating insights into actionable improvements.
  • • Ensure compensation governance is scalable, compliant, and risk-managed across all geographies, partnering with Legal and Finance on controls and regulatory alignment.
  • • Lead, grow, and develop a team across compensation, equity, and benefits, setting high standards for craft, ownership, and agency while coaching team members and cross-functional partners.
  • • Coach leaders and managers on compensation decision-making with clarity, confidence, and empathy, enabling them to make fair, data-informed choices.
  • • Create communication strategies and enablement materials that make complex compensation and equity concepts accessible, transparent, and easy to understand for all employees.
  • • Operate with high agency and urgency, taking full ownership of outcomes while maintaining exceptional judgment, craft, and attention to detail.
  • • Support company scaling by ensuring compensation practices, documentation, and systems evolve to meet increasing demands for governance, global alignment, and operational precision.
  • • Build a culture of transparency, fairness, and high performance through thoughtful, data-driven total rewards programs that reflect Notion’s AI-forward future.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 10+ years of experience leading compensation and equity programs in high-growth technology companies, including executive-level scope
  • • Proven ability to design scalable compensation architectures (job structures, pay bands, market pricing, governance) that support rapid scaling
  • • Deep experience with executive compensation and direct partnership with senior leadership and Compensation Committees
  • • Strong analytical skills paired with exceptional judgment to translate complex data into simple, high-quality decisions
  • • Builder’s mindset: experience creating systems, processes, and tools from scratch and iterating quickly based on feedback
  • • High agency and ownership: takes initiative, drives momentum, and owns outcomes with urgency
