📋 Description

• Lead the engineering organization through its next major growth phase, scaling from 50 to 100 engineers as part of a 10x usage growth strategy.
• Define and evolve the Engineering Strategy and North Star to align technical vision with business goals, ensuring scalable processes support rapid growth without sacrificing quality.
• Introduce and refine scalable engineering practices—including SDLC, QA, SLOs, CI/CD, and observability—while preserving a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and servant leadership.
• Partner closely with the CTO, Product, ML, Sales, and People leaders to develop integrated product, business, and talent strategies that drive organizational alignment.
• Own the engineering hiring strategy: forecast talent needs, improve recruitment procedures, and enhance Mimica’s value proposition to attract and retain Senior+ engineers and Engineering Managers.
• Develop and maintain clear career ladders for Senior+ Engineers and Engineering Managers, providing coaching, 1:1s, and structured career progression support.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration by eliminating silos, reducing duplicate work, and ensuring transparent communication between engineering teams and Product.
• Drive engineering health and efficiency by defining, tracking, and acting on key metrics related to delivery velocity, system reliability, and team well-being.
• Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives around planning, delivery, and technical debt management across all 8 cross-functional teams.
• Balance speed and quality in software delivery, ensuring production code ownership is shared and technical standards are upheld across the organization.
• Enable engineers to do their best work by optimizing developer experience, infrastructure, and tooling, with a focus on distributed systems, cloud architecture, and data-intensive architectures.
• Adapt to and improve upon existing team culture, processes, and norms without disrupting what has already proven effective in a high-performing, remote-first environment.
• Translate complex business goals into actionable technical priorities at both strategic and tactical levels, ensuring engineering efforts directly impact product impact and revenue.
• Navigate ambiguity and resolve disagreements using alignment tools and communication strategies across all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate successfully in a fully remote environment with team members distributed across UTC-5 to UTC+3 time zones.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and adapt messaging for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders, through excellent written and verbal English skills.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience as Head of Engineering, Director of Engineering, or VP of Engineering in a similar scale-up growth story.
• Expertise in building and designing processes and standards that increase engineers' ownership and enablement in rapidly scaling organisations.
• Strong understanding of how engineering decisions impact product, revenue, and go-to-market.
• Knowledge of modern scalable practices in fast-paced environments & data-intensive architectures, including distributed systems, cloud architecture, reliability engineering, CI/CD, and observability.
• Experience collaborating successfully in fully-remote working environments.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills—specifically, being able to articulate technical concepts and adapt your message to different audiences.
