- • Participate in an AI annotation project focused on prostate pathology using whole slide images (WSIs) to train a continuous Gleason score classification model.
- • Perform semantic segmentation of prostate cancer regions on WSIs using polygon and region-based annotation tools, ensuring precise delineation of diagnostic features.
- • Ensure annotation accuracy by applying sound diagnostic reasoning consistent with current histopathological standards and clinical practice.
- • Conduct quality review of the prostate cancer WSI dataset and associated labels to identify errors, inconsistencies, or gaps in annotation.
- • Document findings and provide clear feedback to refine the annotation protocol and improve overall dataset quality for AI model training.
- • Collaborate remotely with AI researchers and fellow clinical experts to align AI development with real-world diagnostic workflows.
- • Use QuPath software to carry out all annotation and segmentation tasks as specified in the project protocol.
- • Contribute to the development of clinically grounded AI systems that aim to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care in prostate pathology.
- • Work independently and asynchronously within a flexible schedule that accommodates existing clinical, academic, or research commitments.
- • Engage with a dataset specifically curated for prostate cancer diagnosis, with emphasis on Gleason grading patterns and tumor morphology.
- • Provide expert clinical input to ensure AI models reflect authentic histopathological interpretation and avoid algorithmic bias.
- • Maintain strict adherence to diagnostic terminology and pathology best practices throughout all annotation tasks.
- • Deliver high-quality, consistent annotations that directly influence the performance and reliability of next-generation diagnostic AI tools.
- • Contribute to a time-limited project expected to run for 2–3 months, with work completed remotely and on a flexible hourly basis.
- • Apply expertise as a GMC-registered Histopathologist to bridge clinical knowledge with AI development in a novel, impactful healthcare technology initiative.
🎯 Requirements
- • GMC-registered Histopathologist with an active licence to practise in the UK
- • Registrar at ST3 level or above, or Consultant grade
- • Background in histopathology, with oncological pathologists and uropathologists particularly encouraged to apply
- • Familiarity with Gleason grading of prostate cancer
- • Strong familiarity with pathology workflows, diagnostic terminology, and whole slide image interpretation
- • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a remote environment
