📋 Description

• • Serve as a Hmong-English Video-Phone Interpreter, facilitating real-time verbal interpretation between Hmong and English speakers across critical industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, insurance, finance, and education.
• • Deliver accurate, culturally competent interpretation by rendering the full meaning of conversations without omissions, additions, or personal commentary, adhering strictly to established interpretation protocols.
• • Conduct interpretation sessions via video and audio platforms using a dedicated personal device such as a laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone, ensuring clear pronunciation, proper enunciation, and professional demeanor at all times.
• • Maintain neutrality and objectivity during high-stakes, emotionally intense calls involving sensitive topics such as end-of-life care, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters of sexual orientation or gender expression.
• • Respond promptly to on-demand interpretation requests, ensuring timely service delivery under variable call volumes and potential extended call durations without breaks.
• • Participate in mandatory online, video, and audio training sessions to develop industry-specific terminology and refine interpreting skills in medical, legal, financial, and emergency response contexts.
• • Type data accurately and efficiently on assigned devices during interpretation sessions as required by client protocols and technology systems.
• • Operate in a secure, quiet, and distraction-free home-office environment with consistent high-speed internet connectivity (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ≤300 ms ping, ≤30 ms jitter).
• • Adhere to client-specific instructions and avoid direct interaction with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals without explicit client permission.
• • Demonstrate deep cultural competency by recognizing regional dialects, accents, and cultural nuances to ensure effective communication with Hmong-speaking individuals.
• • Maintain punctuality and reliability during scheduled work hours, ensuring consistent availability to meet operational demands.
• • Remain calm and composed during chaotic or high-pressure situations, such as emergency 911 calls or distressed client interactions, while upholding company service standards.
• • Use company-provided software and systems to perform all job functions, and adapt to future technology enhancements implemented by LanguageLine Solutions.
• • Follow all technical requirements, including avoiding restricted brands like Kaspersky and Huawei hardware, and ensuring device compatibility with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or Android.
• • Perform all duties with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and compliance with federal and state employment laws, including ADA and VEVRAA.
• • Operate a headset for prolonged periods and remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for the majority of the workday.
• • Possess sufficient manual dexterity to type and use a mouse or touchscreen interface throughout the workday.
• • Be able to lift up to 26 lbs, if required for equipment setup or relocation.
• • Be exposed to moderate noise levels from computer systems, audio devices, and telecommunication tools during daily operations.
