📋 Description

• • Architect and own the next generation of cloud-native, enterprise-grade PHP applications that serve millions of users worldwide. You will design end-to-end distributed systems with Laravel at the core, leveraging Eloquent ORM, DTO-based patterns, and event-driven workflows to ensure high availability, low latency, and horizontal scalability.
• • Lead the evolution of our RESTful API ecosystem by applying battle-tested patterns such as Saga orchestration and AWS Step Functions. You will refactor legacy endpoints, introduce versioning strategies, and implement rate-limiting, caching, and circuit-breaker mechanisms that keep our services resilient under peak load.
• • Engineer infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and maintain AWS resources—Lambda for serverless compute, DynamoDB for NoSQL persistence, S3 for durable object storage, and CloudFront for global content delivery. You will codify every environment (dev, staging, prod) so that deployments are deterministic, repeatable, and auditable.
• • Drive continuous delivery excellence with Bitbucket Pipelines, Octopus Deploy, and containerised build agents. You will craft multi-stage pipelines that run unit, feature, and contract tests, perform static analysis with SonarQube/SonarLint, and push blue-green releases with zero downtime.
• • Champion a culture of quality by embedding automated testing at every layer—PHPUnit for unit tests, Laravel Dusk for browser tests, and Postman/Newman for API regression packs. You will mentor junior developers on TDD principles and enforce a “tests accompany code” policy through pull-request gates.
• • Collaborate daily with a 100-engineer, cross-functional product squad that spans Pakistan, Europe, and North America. You will participate in architecture guilds, lead technical design reviews, and present brown-bag sessions on advanced Laravel patterns, AWS cost optimisation, and DevSecOps best practices.
• • Optimise application performance through query tuning, eager-loading strategies, and strategic use of DynamoDB global secondary indexes. You will set SLIs/SLOs, instrument code with CloudWatch and X-Ray, and run chaos-engineering drills to validate fault tolerance.
• • Influence the product roadmap by translating business requirements into technical epics, estimating effort accurately, and identifying risks early. Your voice will shape decisions on microservice boundaries, data-modelling trade-offs, and third-party integrations.
• • Contribute to internal open-source libraries that accelerate feature delivery across squads—shared Laravel packages, Terraform modules, and GitHub Actions templates. You will document APIs, maintain changelogs, and provide LTS support for critical components.
• • Grow into a recognised thought-leader within Smart Working’s remote-first community. You will host live coding streams, write engineering blog posts, and represent the company at PHP and AWS meetups—amplifying both your personal brand and our employer brand.
