Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Be the architect of Apollo Information Systems’ people engine. As our first dedicated Human Resources Manager you will design, build, and run every HR process that powers a rapidly scaling cybersecurity company serving state agencies, counties, universities, and Fortune 1000 clients. You will report directly to the executive leadership team and act as the strategic business partner on all things people—while still rolling up your sleeves to process this week’s new hires and audit next quarter’s SOC 2 evidence.
- • Own the full employee lifecycle outside of recruiting. From the moment an offer letter is signed until the day an alumnus updates their LinkedIn, you will craft the onboarding journey, benefits experience, performance cycles, and off-boarding rituals that make Apollo a destination employer in cybersecurity.
- • Build scalable, compliant infrastructure. Translate high-growth chaos into repeatable playbooks: design job families and pay bands, select and configure an HRIS that integrates with our Sequoia PEO, document SOPs that satisfy both SOC 2 auditors and Federal Contractor requirements, and create dashboards that give leaders real-time insight into headcount, turnover, and engagement.
- • Drive competitive total rewards. Benchmark salary, equity, and benefits against cybersecurity market data; negotiate vendor contracts for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and ancillary lines; oversee annual renewals, EEO-1, ACA, NDT, and 5500 filings; and craft a compensation philosophy that balances internal equity with external competitiveness.
- • Champion culture and engagement. Launch and analyze quarterly employee surveys, design action plans that move the needle on eNPS, and partner with managers to turn feedback into measurable improvements. Create rituals—virtual coffee chats, recognition programs, and milestone celebrations—that keep a remote-first team connected and inspired.
- • Serve as trusted advisor and coach. Field sensitive employee relations issues with empathy and legal precision. Coach executives and frontline managers on org design, succession planning, and high-potential development. Translate business strategy into people priorities: when we expand into a new state or launch a managed SOC offering, you anticipate the talent, compliance, and compensation implications.
- • Optimize onboarding velocity. Reduce time-to-productivity for security analysts, engineers, and consultants by reimagining pre-start paperwork, automated provisioning, and 30-60-90-day checklists. Partner with IT and Security to ensure new hires have laptops, access badges, and platform credentials before day one.
- • Master multi-state compliance. Monitor evolving federal and state employment laws, draft policy updates, and train managers on FLSA, FMLA, ADA, wage-and-hour, pay-equity, and paid-leave requirements. Maintain AAPs and support OFCCP audits as a Federal Contractor.
- • Institutionalize performance and development. Replace ad-hoc reviews with a lightweight, growth-oriented system that aligns individual OKRs to company goals. Introduce 360 feedback, career ladders, and skills matrices that enable security engineers to see a path from Analyst to Architect.
- • Leverage data for decisions. Build HR metrics—offer-acceptance rates, regrettable turnover, DEI funnel analytics, and cost-per-hire—that inform executive strategy. Present insights in board-level dashboards and quarterly business reviews.
- • Manage vendor ecosystem. Own relationships with payroll, benefits, HRIS, learning, and compliance vendors; negotiate SLAs and pricing; and ensure seamless integrations that free you to focus on strategic work.
- • Be the culture carrier. Model Apollo’s core values—passion for cybersecurity, integrity, continuous learning, and collaborative grit. Whether you’re hosting a lunch-and-learn on zero-trust architecture or reviewing an employee handbook revision at 9 p.m. before an audit, you radiate the energy that makes Apollo a mission-driven employer of choice.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership in high-growth technology, cybersecurity, or PE-backed services organizations
- • Demonstrated success building HR infrastructure compliant with SOC 2 Type II and Federal Contractor regulations
- • Deep, current knowledge of multi-state employment law, compensation design, and benefits administration
- • Proven ability to manage outsourced PEO relationships and integrate HRIS with business platforms (experience with Sequoia a plus)
- • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification strongly preferred
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary plus equity in a Series A company backed by Syn Ventures
- • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision for employees and 75% for dependents
- • Flexible PTO policy and remote-first culture with optional hubs in Denver and Dallas
- • Annual professional development stipend and paid industry certifications (CISSP, SPHR, etc.)
