- • Are you a data-driven leader passionate about social impact and economic empowerment? Acumen, a global non-profit impact investor, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Impact Manager to spearhead Reporting, Data, and Analytics for a transformative business and economic empowerment program across East and West Africa. This is a unique opportunity to shape the narrative of impact, drive strategic decision-making, and ensure the effectiveness of initiatives designed to uplift young women and foster sustainable development across the continent.
- • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust data collection, analysis, and reporting frameworks. You will work closely with a diverse portfolio of Acumen investees, providing them with the insights and tools necessary to measure, manage, and communicate their social and financial performance. Your expertise will be crucial in translating complex data into actionable strategies, enabling both Acumen and our partners to optimize their impact and achieve their ambitious goals.
- • You will be responsible for overseeing the entire data lifecycle, from initial data collection and validation to sophisticated analysis and the creation of compelling impact reports. This includes designing and refining data collection tools, ensuring data quality and integrity, and developing advanced analytical models to identify trends, measure progress against key performance indicators (KPIs), and uncover opportunities for improvement. Your work will directly influence program strategy, investment decisions, and external communications, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- • A key aspect of your role will involve building the capacity of Acumen investees in data management and impact measurement. You will provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to ensure they can effectively track their own progress and articulate their impact to various stakeholders. This capacity-building component is vital for fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making within the Acumen ecosystem and empowering our partners to become leaders in their respective fields.
- • You will also play a critical role in synthesizing regional data to provide high-level insights to Acumen’s global leadership team. This involves identifying overarching trends, challenges, and successes across East and West Africa, informing Acumen's strategic direction and resource allocation. Your ability to communicate complex findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including investors, partners, and program beneficiaries, will be paramount.
- • The Impact Manager will be expected to foster strong collaborative relationships with internal Acumen teams (investment, program, communications) and external stakeholders, including investees, data providers, and research institutions. You will champion best practices in impact measurement and data analytics, staying abreast of emerging methodologies and technologies to continuously enhance Acumen's approach.
- • This remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within East or West Africa, allowing you to immerse yourself in the contexts where our work is making a difference. You will be part of a dynamic and mission-driven organization, contributing to a global movement that believes in the power of entrepreneurial solutions to poverty.
- • Key responsibilities will include:
- • Developing and implementing comprehensive data strategy for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E) across the East and West Africa portfolio.
- • Designing, managing, and refining data collection systems, tools, and processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data.
- • Conducting in-depth quantitative and qualitative data analysis to assess social and financial performance of Acumen investees and program outcomes.
- • Producing high-quality impact reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, translating data into compelling narratives.
- • Providing technical assistance and capacity building to investees on impact measurement, data management, and reporting best practices.
- • Identifying key trends, insights, and lessons learned from portfolio data to inform program strategy, investment decisions, and organizational learning.
- • Collaborating with investment and program teams to integrate data insights into due diligence, portfolio management, and impact optimization efforts.
- • Managing relationships with external data partners, consultants, and research institutions as needed.
- • Staying current with best practices and innovations in impact measurement, data analytics, and social enterprise.
- • Contributing to the development and refinement of Acumen’s global impact measurement framework.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience in roles focused on data analysis, impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field, preferably within the development, social enterprise, or impact investing sectors.
- • Proven expertise in designing and implementing data collection systems, managing large datasets, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
- • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- • Experience in capacity building and providing technical assistance to organizations or individuals on data-related topics.
- • Demonstrated understanding of impact measurement frameworks and methodologies (e.g., IRIS+, Theory of Change, Logic Models).
- • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a strong asset.
- • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
