Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the full life-cycle of customer automation deployments—from napkin-sketch concept to a humming production cell—ensuring every robot, sensor, and line of code works reliably on day one and day one-thousand.
  • • Translate complex manufacturing requirements into detailed engineering designs: robot layouts, EOAT concepts, safety zoning, cycle-time analyses, pneumatic schematics, network architectures, and integration plans that balance throughput, cost, uptime, and operator ergonomics.
  • • Configure and integrate multi-vendor hardware ecosystems (6-axis robots, cobots, conveyors, vision systems, safety PLCs, HMIs, MES interfaces) into cohesive cells, writing and tuning motion programs, I/O mapping, and safety logic so that everything behaves as a single, predictable machine.
  • • Lead on-site installation and commissioning at customer plants across North America—typically 50 % travel—directing mechanical assembly, electrical hookup, network commissioning, calibration routines, and operator training while maintaining strict adherence to OSHA, ANSI/RIA, and customer-specific safety standards.
  • • Debug in real time: use oscilloscopes, multimeters, robot teach pendants, and log files to diagnose mechanical backlash, EMI noise, network latency, or software edge cases, then implement robust fixes under tight production windows with minimal line downtime.
  • • Serve as the primary technical point of contact during deployment, translating complex technical trade-offs into clear recommendations for plant engineers, maintenance teams, and C-suite stakeholders, ensuring alignment on scope, timeline, and success metrics.
  • • Document every design revision, wiring label, and software parameter in version-controlled packages (CAD, BOM, risk assessments, user manuals) so future deployments are faster, safer, and more repeatable.
  • • Drive continuous improvement by feeding field insights back to product, hardware, and software teams—proposing standard modules, smarter calibration routines, or UI tweaks that cut install time by 30 % and boost MTBF.
  • • Champion a culture of safety and quality: conduct Job Hazard Analyses, lock-out/tag-out audits, and FAT/SAT protocols, ensuring every cell ships with a signed safety certificate and a bulletproof run-off video.
  • • Mentor junior engineers and customer technicians on robot programming best practices, preventive-maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting playbooks, elevating the capability of everyone who touches the system.
  • • Stay current with emerging automation technologies—AI-driven vision, adaptive grippers, edge computing, OPC-UA, MQTT—evaluating how they can be folded into Standard Bots’ roadmap to keep customers on the leading edge without adding complexity.
  • • Contribute to pre-sales efforts by joining discovery calls, estimating labor and material budgets, and building quick proof-of-concept demos that turn skeptical prospects into enthusiastic design partners.
  • • Balance multiple concurrent projects (typically 3–5 cells in various stages), using Agile sprints, risk matrices, and clear stakeholder communication to deliver every milestone on time and on budget.
  • • Celebrate wins: when a cell hits 99.8 % uptime and operators tell you it “just works,” you’ll know you’ve moved the needle for an entire factory and advanced Standard Bots’ mission of democratizing automation.
