Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own end-to-end technical documentation for Firecrawl’s developer-facing products, including API reference, SDK guides, quickstarts, conceptual explainers, migration guides, and changelogs that ship alongside new features.
- • Write technical content that drives developer discovery and adoption, including tutorials, cookbooks, integration guides, and long-form pieces that demonstrate real-world use cases with executable code.
- • Read and understand the Firecrawl codebase, use the product directly, and collaborate with engineers to ensure documentation accurately reflects shipped functionality and catches unspoken edge cases.
- • Maintain a consistent, clear, and direct voice across all technical content — no fluff, optimized for developers who want to skim, copy-paste, and ship immediately.
- • Partner with the growth marketing team to create SEO-relevant technical content such as comparison guides, tutorial series, and cookbook entries that rank for problems Firecrawl solves.
- • Triage and respond to documentation feedback from GitHub, Discord, and support channels, treating docs as a product with bugs that require fixes and updates.
- • Write both terse API reference pages and 2,000-word deep-dive tutorials within the same week, adapting tone and structure based on audience need and content purpose.
- • Proactively identify gaps in documentation without waiting for a formal brief, using product usage, developer feedback, and market search patterns to prioritize updates.
- • Collaborate with engineering on release notes and documentation updates, ensuring technical accuracy and timely delivery with each product release.
- • Rewrite drafts relentlessly to eliminate technically correct but practically useless examples, and push back on confusing feature names or unclear product behavior.
- • Work autonomously in a fast-moving, loosely defined environment where ownership extends beyond traditional documentation into content strategy and product feedback loops.
- • Demonstrate ability to run Python or TypeScript SDK examples, debug code snippets, and ensure all tutorial code works on first copy-paste — no examples outsourced to engineers.
- • Bring experience writing for developer tools, APIs, or infrastructure products, with a strong understanding of what makes documentation effective at companies like Stripe, Twilio, Vercel, or Supabase.
- • Contribute to a culture of high standards: notice when documentation is incomplete, misleading, or fails to help a developer ship, and take initiative to improve it.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years writing technical content for developer-facing products, APIs, or infrastructure tools
- • Ability to read and execute code in Python or TypeScript to validate documentation examples
- • Proven experience creating both API reference documentation and long-form tutorials/cookbooks
- • Strong preference for candidates with backgrounds in developer tools, PLG startups, or DevRel roles with heavy writing responsibilities
- • Comfort working without detailed editorial briefs and proactively identifying documentation needs
- • US citizenship or valid work visa required
🏖️ Benefits
- • Salary range of $160,000–$200,000/year (U.S.-based in San Francisco; adjusted fairly for other Americas locations)
- • Up to 0.05% equity in Firecrawl
- • 15 days mandatory PTO; beyond 24 days, simply ask — holidays excluded
- • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave for all parents
- • $100/month wellness stipend for gym, therapy, massages, or other personal wellness
- • $1,000/year learning and development budget for professional growth
- • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% for employees, 50% for dependents) — no loopholes
- • Employer-paid life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance
- • 401(k) plan with pre-tax contribution options
- • For San Francisco-based employees: loaner e-bike, snacks, drinks, team lunches, and ping pong
