đź“‹ Description

  • • Anrok is at the forefront of tax automation, empowering businesses to achieve global expansion without the burden of complex compliance. In today's rapidly evolving digital economy, businesses are increasingly facing intricate sales tax obligations across numerous US states and international territories. What was once a minor concern has transformed into a critical operational bottleneck, hindering companies from transacting seamlessly with customers worldwide. Anrok's innovative platform directly addresses this challenge by integrating with billing and payment systems to automate the entire spectrum of tax monitoring, calculation, and filing.
  • • As an Indirect Tax Manager at Anrok, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our US indirect tax strategy, with a specific focus on our physical goods offering. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in tangible personal property taxability to build and refine the core tax logic that underpins our cutting-edge platform. You will be instrumental in ensuring that Anrok can accurately and efficiently handle the complexities of sales tax for physical goods across all US jurisdictions.
  • • Your responsibilities will span the entire end-to-end US indirect tax lifecycle for physical goods. This includes conducting thorough taxability research to determine the applicability of sales tax on various tangible personal property items, performing comprehensive nexus analysis to understand registration and collection obligations in each state, accurately determining tax rates, and managing exemption certificates to ensure compliance and optimize tax liabilities for our customers.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve building and maintaining the tax content and rules engine logic that powers Anrok's accurate sales tax calculations. This requires a deep understanding of how tax laws translate into programmable rules and the ability to work closely with our Product and Engineering teams to implement these effectively. You will be the bridge between complex tax requirements and scalable platform features, ensuring our technology accurately reflects the nuances of physical goods taxation.
  • • You will develop robust compliance frameworks specifically for physical goods, covering registration, filing, and remittance processes. These frameworks must seamlessly integrate with Anrok's existing infrastructure, ensuring a cohesive and efficient user experience for our clients. This involves understanding the operational aspects of tax compliance and translating them into automated solutions.
  • • Proactively monitoring legislative and regulatory changes across all US states and municipalities is crucial. You will stay ahead of the curve, identifying potential impacts on our customers and Anrok's platform, and ensuring our tax content is updated promptly and accurately to reflect these changes. This proactive approach is key to maintaining Anrok's position as a leader in tax automation.
  • • You will collaborate closely with our onboarding and support teams to ensure a smooth transition for new users onto the Anrok platform. Furthermore, you will provide expert assistance with any tax-technical issues that may arise, acting as a subject matter expert and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • • This role offers the chance to contribute significantly to a product that is making compliant digital commerce a reality for businesses of all sizes. You will be working with a company backed by over $100M in funding from top-tier investors like Spark Capital, Sequoia, Index, and Khosla Ventures, and serving prominent clients such as Notion, Anthropic, and Cursor.
  • • We are looking for an individual who is not just proficient in indirect tax but is also passionate about building and scaling solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Your ability to translate intricate tax concepts into clear, actionable requirements for engineering and product teams will be paramount. If you thrive on solving ambiguous problems and are excited by the prospect of building something new from the ground up, this is the role for you.
  • • You will be a key player in Anrok's mission to simplify global commerce for businesses, allowing them to focus on growth while we handle the complexities of tax compliance. Your entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence will be highly valued as we continue to grow and evolve.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of experience in US state and local indirect tax, with significant depth in tangible personal property (physical goods) taxability across multiple jurisdictions.
  • • Proven experience working in a tax technology company, Big 4 advisory firm, or an in-house tax team at an e-commerce or retail business, ideally with exposure to building or scaling tax automation.
  • • Strong command of product taxability rules, exemption certificates, nexus standards (physical and economic), and multi-state filing requirements for physical goods.
  • • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams, translating complex tax nuances into clear, actionable requirements.
  • • Entrepreneurial attitude and a passion for building innovative solutions from the ground up.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of premiums covered.
  • • Annual learning and development stipend for books, online courses, and conferences.
  • • Home office setup stipend to ensure you have the necessary equipment to work effectively.
  • • Wellness reimbursement program to support your overall well-being.
