Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Fluidstack is at the forefront of building the infrastructure for abundant intelligence, partnering with leading AI labs, governments, and enterprises to accelerate the realization of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). We are a highly motivated and committed team dedicated to delivering world-class infrastructure, treating our customers' outcomes as our own, and earning trust through excellence. If you are driven by purpose, obsessed with quality, and ready to work diligently to advance the future of intelligence, join us in shaping what's next.
  • • As an Infrastructure Deployment Engineer (IDE), you will be a critical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the physical infrastructure of data centers, with a specialized focus on fiber optics, structured cabling, and the overall data center physical environment. This role is pivotal in managing the complete lifecycle of physical installation projects, ensuring that every deployment meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the main on-site technical point of contact, bridging communication between the Low Voltage Contractor (LVC) and our internal engineering teams. You will meticulously manage the LVC's deployment schedule, ensuring all project milestones are met and providing timely updates on progress and any potential delays to project management. Furthermore, you will coordinate essential logistical elements such as site access, material delivery, and the setup of staging areas, working closely with data center facility operations to ensure seamless operations. In situations requiring immediate attention, you will act as a remote hands expert, providing crucial support to remote engineering teams during critical deployment and validation phases.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will involve rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes. You will conduct comprehensive, multi-stage inspections of all LVC work, scrutinizing everything from rack placement and server/device racking to cable routing and final labeling. It is imperative that all installed infrastructure, including racks, servers, network devices, and storage units, are installed and properly grounded in strict accordance with the specified Bill of Materials (BoM) and detailed design documentation.
  • • Your expertise in Fiber Optic and Cabling Validation will be paramount. You will either conduct or directly supervise critical testing procedures such as optical loss testing (OLTS), OTDR analysis, and insertion/return loss evaluations for all installed fiber links, encompassing both Single-Mode and Multi-Mode fibers. For copper cabling, you will verify the integrity and pin-out of Cat6a/Cat8 cables using certified testing equipment. You will ensure that all patch panels, trunks, patch cords, and cable management systems not only function correctly but also comply with all relevant industry codes and standards.
  • • Beyond direct installation oversight, you will be the organization's go-to SME for fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling best practices, drawing upon established standards like BICSI. You will be tasked with reviewing, interpreting, and validating design documentation, including rack elevation diagrams and fiber schematics, to ensure their constructability and feasibility in the field. A key deliverable will be the generation of detailed final test reports, comprehensive as-built documentation, and thorough root cause analysis (RCA) reports for any issues identified during the deployment process. You will also play a role in educating and mentoring internal full-time employees on best practices for fiber maintenance and cable management, contributing to the overall knowledge base of the team. Finally, you will manage the crucial closeout activities and ensure a smooth, organized handoff of the completed infrastructure to the operations team.
  • • This role demands a proactive approach, strong organizational capabilities, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while driving projects to successful completion. You will be instrumental in ensuring the physical integrity and performance of Fluidstack's cutting-edge AI infrastructure.
