📋 Description

• • Own and evolve Redgate’s hybrid cloud & on-prem infrastructure: you will design, build and continuously improve the platforms that power our award-winning database tools for 800,000+ data professionals worldwide. Your work directly underpins product releases, customer trials and internal productivity.
• • Live and breathe Infrastructure-as-Code: write Terraform modules and Puppet manifests that spin up, scale and tear down environments in minutes, not days. Every pull-request you merge is peer-reviewed and automatically deployed through GitHub Actions or TeamCity, shrinking lead-time and eliminating snow-flake servers.
• • Champion reliability & performance: architect fault-tolerant, highly-available systems across AWS and Azure; tune VMware vSphere clusters; optimise storage arrays for cost and speed; and ensure 99.9 % uptime for mission-critical services that customers rely on 24/7.
• • Secure by design, not by accident: collaborate with our Security Manager to harden every layer—from network segmentation and firewall rules to Entra ID conditional-access policies—while automating vulnerability scanning and patching so threats are neutralised before they reach production.
• • Automate everything that moves: craft PowerShell, Bash and Python scripts that provision Windows & Linux VMs, configure backup schedules, rotate secrets, and even spin up Zoom Phone instances for new starters. If it happens twice, you script it.
• • Be the guardian of data: design and test backup, disaster-recovery and business-continuity strategies for SQL Server, Postgres and Oracle estates; prove recoverability with quarterly game-days; and sleep soundly knowing customer data is safe.
• • Keep the lights on and the Wi-Fi fast: manage switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi and internet circuits in our Cambridge HQ; monitor with Icinga; and respond to major/minor incidents using blameless post-mortems that turn outages into learning opportunities.
• • Empower colleagues through enablement: run brown-bag sessions on “GitOps for Infrastructure”, pair-program with developers to embed operational readiness into CI/CD pipelines, and act as the escalation point for our Service Desk when tickets need deeper technical wizardry.
• • Make build-vs-buy decisions with commercial acumen: evaluate SaaS, PaaS and IaaS options against total cost of ownership, security posture and strategic fit, presenting clear recommendations to senior leadership.
• • Stay curious and share knowledge: prototype emerging tech in our lab environment, contribute to internal runbooks, and represent Redgate at local meet-ups—because teaching others scales your impact far beyond a single keyboard.
