📋 Description

• As an Infrastructure Engineer IV at HackerOne, you will play a critical role in building and operating the cloud infrastructure that powers the HackerOne platform — a global leader in Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) trusted by industry giants like Goldman Sachs, Uber, and the U.S. Department of Defense to continuously discover, validate, prioritize, and remediate security exposures across code, cloud, and AI systems.
• You will contribute to a mission-driven engineering culture where offensive security is standard, combining the ingenuity of the world’s largest security researcher community with AI-powered platform capabilities to deliver measurable, continuous reduction of cyber risk for enterprises.
• In your first 30 days, you will onboard with your squad and the broader engineering organization, learn HackerOne’s infrastructure stack (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, etc.), and become familiar with reliability, security, and incident management practices.
• By 60 days, you will participate in the on-call rotation with teammate support, take ownership of a scoped infrastructure project delivering incremental improvements, and build working relationships across engineering and adjacent functions such as product, security, and compliance.
• Beyond 90 days, you will independently deliver infrastructure changes that improve system reliability, performance, or security, translate product and customer needs into practical technical solutions, and contribute to operational excellence through runbooks, automation, and system improvements.
• Ongoing responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), collaborating with cross-functional partners on infrastructure initiatives, participating in a weekly on-call rotation (one week every four weeks) between 9am–9pm PT / 12pm–12am ET, sharing knowledge to foster a positive team culture, and continuously improving your technical skills in cloud, security, and observability domains.
• You will work within a flexible remote-first model targeted for candidates within ~50 miles of Boston, Austin, or Washington DC, enabling occasional in-person collaboration while preserving the benefits of remote work.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working with Linux-based systems and cloud infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog, Cloudflare, and OpenSearch
• Experience operating and supporting production systems in an on-call environment
• Familiarity with modern DevOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or GitHub Actions)
• Experience delivering projects with dependencies across technical and non-technical teams
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, and secure infrastructure practices
• Interest in secure-by-default infrastructure design and compliance requirements
• Clear communicator and effective team collaborator
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation between 9am–9pm PT / 12pm–12am ET once every four weeks (Sunday–Monday)
