- • Serve as an Instrumentation & Controls Consultant with 8+ years of direct experience in designing, evaluating, and implementing process instrumentation and control systems for industrial, municipal, and utility applications.
- • Lead technical tasks related to municipal water and wastewater management systems, including the design and integration of control architectures that ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- • Design and support control systems for power plants, industrial automation systems, microgrids, and combined heat and power (CHP) systems serving utilities, universities, campuses, and industrial facilities.
- • Evaluate existing instrumentation and control systems to identify performance gaps, reliability issues, and opportunities for modernization or optimization.
- • Develop detailed technical documentation including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules, and procurement specifications for control system components.
- • Create and interpret logic diagrams and SAMA (Instrument Society of America) diagrams to define control system functionality and sequence of operations.
- • Collaborate with site engineering teams during the installation, commissioning, and startup phases of newly designed control systems to ensure alignment with design intent and operational requirements.
- • Participate in bid evaluation processes for instrumentation and control system vendors, providing technical assessments and recommendations based on project specifications.
- • Work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) across diverse industrial environments to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable control solutions.
- • Provide construction support by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and resolving field issues related to instrumentation and control system implementation.
- • Apply industry best practices in system resilience, cybersecurity, and integration of emerging technologies to enhance the reliability and longevity of control infrastructure.
- • Engage with cross-functional teams including project managers, electrical engineers, process engineers, and clients to deliver integrated solutions that meet technical, budgetary, and scheduling objectives.
- • Maintain a strong focus on client experience by delivering high-quality, ethically grounded engineering services that align with Stanley Consultants’ People First approach and commitment to sustainability.
- • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior staff, and participating in internal technical reviews and innovation forums.
- • Operate in a hybrid work environment with on-site presence required for project site visits, commissioning activities, and client meetings in Muscatine, IA and other project locations as needed.

- • 8+ years of direct experience in instrumentation and control systems design and implementation
- • Proven expertise with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- • Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules, and SAMA diagrams
