Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As the Insurance Methodology & Data Products Specialist at Forbes Advisor, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of how we define, collect, and assess insurance data across all our verticals. This is a pivotal, senior-level role where you will own the strategic vision and execution for our insurance methodologies, encompassing auto, home, renters, life, health, small business, and specialty insurance lines. Your expertise will directly influence the editorial content and the development of associated insurance data products, which may be licensed or packaged for broader distribution.
  • • You will be the architect of our insurance assessment frameworks, transforming complex insurance markets, intricate regulations, and diverse consumer needs into clear, defensible scoring systems and meticulously structured datasets. This role demands a unique blend of deep subject matter expertise and strategic leadership, focusing on both the 'how' and the 'why' behind our insurance rankings and data product evolution.
  • • Your core responsibility will be to own the end-to-end strategy for insurance methodologies. This includes defining what constitutes excellence in our assessment frameworks, ensuring they deliver exceptional user value, maintain robust defensibility, offer complete transparency, and are updated with an appropriate cadence to remain relevant and accurate.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves shaping the roadmap for proprietary insurance metrics. You will conceptualize and develop innovative measures such as value-for-money indices, claims experience indicators, and reliability stability metrics. The successful integration of these proprietary metrics into our rankings and data products will be a significant measure of success.
  • • You will play a critical role in identifying high-impact opportunities to enhance our data capabilities. This includes pinpointing areas where vendor data can be replaced or augmented with proprietary data collection efforts. You will be responsible for designing these research programs, ensuring they yield high-quality, actionable insights.
  • • Setting clear goals and upholding stringent quality standards for the analysts working on insurance frameworks and data products is paramount. You will guide their work, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with the overall strategic objectives.
  • • Mentoring team members is a crucial component of this leadership role. You will share your deep knowledge of insurance concepts, cultivate a strong risk-thinking mindset, and impart best practices in methodology development and data product management. Your guidance will foster the growth and expertise of the team.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to understanding market dynamics, regulatory changes, and emerging consumer trends within the insurance landscape. You will translate these complex factors into practical, data-driven solutions that enhance the value proposition of Forbes Advisor.
  • • You will collaborate closely with editorial teams to ensure our methodologies are clearly communicated and understood by consumers, fostering trust and credibility. Simultaneously, you will work with product and business development teams to explore and define opportunities for data licensing and the creation of new data products.
  • • The impact of this role extends to enhancing the accuracy and relevance of our insurance comparisons, empowering consumers to make more informed decisions. It also involves building a foundation for innovative data products that can serve new markets and revenue streams.
  • • Ultimately, you will be the driving force behind the intellectual property that underpins Forbes Advisor's insurance content and data offerings, ensuring we remain a trusted and authoritative source in the insurance space.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience in the insurance industry, with demonstrated depth in at least one major line of insurance (e.g., auto, home, life, health, or small business).
  • • Proven experience in roles such as Carrier, brokerage, actuarial analytics, product management, underwriting, or regulatory consulting, providing a well-rounded understanding of the insurance ecosystem.
  • • Strong understanding of how insurance products are designed, priced, and regulated, with a primary focus on the US market.
  • • Deep knowledge of the key drivers of customer experience and outcomes in insurance, including claims handling, coverage design, exclusions, and complaint resolution.
  • • Demonstrated experience in building, developing, or overseeing analytical frameworks, scoring models, risk models, rating systems, or structured evaluation methodologies.
  • • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record of translating complex insurance and regulatory concepts into clear, accessible language for non-expert audiences, including consumers.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday schedule.
  • • Remote work flexibility, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
  • • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning in the insurtech and data product space.
  • • A collaborative and innovative work environment with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
