This remote, full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of making children's health better by ensuring seamless access to care through accurate insurance verification and authorization processes.
  • • **Be a Critical First Point of Contact:** As an Insurance Verification Representative II, you will serve as the primary point of contact for resolving insurance-related issues for both internal hospital departments and external customers, including patients and their families. Your ability to effectively communicate and troubleshoot will be crucial in navigating complex insurance landscapes and ensuring patients receive the care they need without undue financial stress.
  • • **Proactive Problem Resolution:** You will be empowered to initiate calls and engage with various internal teams (Hospital Physicians Billing Service, Admitting, Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Department, Patient Financial Services, Utilization Review) and external insurance providers to resolve discrepancies, clarify coverage, and address any barriers to care. This proactive approach is vital for maintaining efficient patient flow and minimizing delays.
  • • **Systematic Issue Escalation and Improvement:** When system errors, recurring divisional problems, or issues identified within work queues or reports arise, you will expertly escalate these to the appropriate staff. More importantly, you will actively collaborate with your team and management to identify opportunities for improvement in our systems and work processes, contributing to ongoing operational excellence.
  • • **Facilitate Seamless Cross-Departmental Collaboration:** This role requires strong interpersonal skills as you will act as a key liaison between numerous hospital departments. Your ability to understand and communicate the needs of each division will foster a collaborative environment, ensuring that insurance verification processes are integrated smoothly across the organization.

This broad exposure will enhance your understanding of diverse patient needs and treatment pathways, making you a versatile and invaluable member of the team.
  • • **Share Payer Trend Insights:** Actively participate in departmental meetings, sharing valuable insights into payer trends, policy changes, and common authorization challenges. Your observations will help the team adapt strategies and improve our success rates in obtaining necessary authorizations.
  • • **Maintain and Enhance Departmental Knowledge Base:** You will be responsible for maintaining and updating critical departmental systems, including templates, payer information, and physician details. Accurate and up-to-date information is paramount for efficient operations and informed decision-making.

By communicating your findings and recommendations to management, you will play a direct role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our insurance verification services.
  • • **Manage Work Volume and Meet Productivity Standards:** This role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to manage a high volume of work. You will be expected to efficiently handle work queues and meet or exceed established productivity standards while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • • **Accurate Data Collection and Verification:** A core responsibility involves accurately collecting and verifying patient insurance information and demographic data. This meticulous process is the foundation for obtaining the correct insurance authorizations and ensuring that all information is entered correctly into our required systems.
  • • **Leverage Clinical Information for Authorizations:** For services and medications requiring a higher level of clinical knowledge, you will utilize electronic medical records and collaborate with internal resources to gather the necessary clinical support. This may involve understanding specific treatment plans or medication protocols to facilitate the authorization process.
  • • **Collaborate on Complex Authorization Scenarios:** Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to navigate and resolve complex or unique authorization scenarios, ensuring that all requirements are met for specialized treatments or procedures.
  • • **Enhance the Patient and Family Experience:** A key aspect of this role involves proactively contacting families prior to scheduled visits or services.
