• • In this high-impact, hands-on role, you will be instrumental in defining and executing the integration and technical architecture that seamlessly connects Smarsh’s diverse operational systems and over 12 distinct product platforms. This position offers a unique blend of integration architecture and general software architecture, demanding robust system design skills that span backend services, cloud infrastructure, and user-facing components.
• • You will be the architect and owner of critical systems responsible for the comprehensive provisioning of all Smarsh products. This includes overseeing the intricate processes for tracking and billing customer overages, which contribute over $40 million in annual revenue. Furthermore, you will enable the reliable and efficient flow of telemetry data across our entire platform, collaborating closely with our Data and Analytics teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
• • This role is central to powering Smarsh’s operational backbone. You will be responsible for designing and building cloud-native, scalable architectures that leverage the power of AWS services. Your expertise will be applied to modern integration platforms, microservices-based designs, and, where appropriate, front-end technologies to create robust and efficient solutions.
• • While MuleSoft is a key component of our existing integration landscape, your architectural ownership will extend far beyond it. You will be expected to provide broad architectural guidance and design across the entire AWS ecosystem, custom-built services, complex distributed systems, and integrations that directly impact user experiences, both internal and external.
• • You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Business Systems, and Data leaders. This collaborative approach is essential to ensure seamless connectivity and data flow across all systems and platforms, from the deepest backend services to the most intuitive customer- and internal-facing user interfaces.
• • Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining architectural roadmaps for integration solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology strategies. You will evaluate and select appropriate integration technologies and patterns, considering factors such as scalability, security, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• • You will design and implement robust APIs and integration workflows, ensuring they are well-documented, maintainable, and adhere to best practices. This includes defining standards for data exchange, error handling, and security protocols.
• • A significant part of your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving complex integration issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures to enhance system stability and reliability.
• • You will also be responsible for mentoring other engineers and architects on integration best practices and architectural principles, fostering a culture of technical excellence within the team.
• • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation within the integration landscape, recommending and implementing solutions that drive efficiency, reduce technical debt, and enhance business capabilities.
• • Ensure that all integration solutions comply with relevant industry regulations and Smarsh’s internal security policies, maintaining the highest standards of data protection and privacy.
• • Contribute to the overall software architecture strategy, ensuring that integration patterns are cohesive with broader system design principles and promote a loosely coupled, resilient architecture.
• • You will be a key contributor to defining the future state of Smarsh’s technology stack, particularly concerning how different systems communicate and share data, directly impacting our ability to scale and innovate.
