Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join VSP Vision’s Strategic Finance team as a Finance Analytics Intern and spend 10 immersive weeks turning raw data into decisions that improve sight for nearly 90 million patients worldwide. You will sit at the intersection of finance, data, and strategy, collaborating with analysts, data scientists, and senior leaders to surface insights that shape pricing, provider-network investments, product profitability, and long-range planning.
- • Own end-to-end data workflows: extract information from Snowflake and SQL-based warehouses, cleanse and validate millions of rows, then model KPIs such as revenue per member, cost-to-serve, and lifetime value. Your queries and transformations will feed directly into executive dashboards.
- • Build and refine Power BI dashboards that visualize trends in claims, utilization, and market penetration. Translate complex findings into intuitive visuals so non-technical stakeholders can act quickly on margin opportunities and risk exposures.
- • Partner with FP&A managers to conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-year baselines. You will investigate root causes—whether a spike in high-cost ophthalmic procedures or regional shifts in member enrollment—and present concise, data-backed recommendations.
- • Support scenario modeling for 2025 strategic initiatives such as tele-optometry expansion and value-based care pilots. Build what-if models in Excel and Power BI that quantify ROI under different adoption curves and reimbursement rates.
- • Design and automate weekly performance reports for senior leadership. By the end of the internship, these reports will run without manual intervention, freeing the team to focus on deeper analytics.
- • Synthesize qualitative insights from cross-functional partners (Product, Network Operations, Actuarial) into cohesive financial narratives for board-level decks. Your storytelling will influence investment decisions measured in tens of millions of dollars.
- • Contribute to the continuous-improvement culture by documenting SQL snippets, DAX patterns, and data-dictionary updates in Confluence. Your playbook will become onboarding material for future interns and new hires.
- • Participate in daily stand-ups and weekly “lunch-and-learn” sessions with data scientists who deploy Python and R for predictive member churn models. You’ll gain exposure to advanced statistical techniques and may prototype your own churn-risk score.
- • Present a capstone project during the final week to the CFO and VP of Strategic Finance. Past interns have delivered pricing elasticity studies that were later adopted network-wide—your work could be next.
- • Embrace a remote-first culture that values curiosity, inclusion, and impact. Whether you’re dialing in from Los Angeles or Toronto, you’ll have the tools, mentorship, and visibility to make a real difference in global vision care.
