- • The Inventory Control Coordinator (2nd Shift) plays a critical role in ensuring accurate inventory tracking and operational efficiency within Cardinal Health’s distribution center, directly supporting the company’s mission to deliver essential healthcare products reliably and safely by maintaining precise stock levels and minimizing discrepancies that could impact patient care.
- • This role is vital to the integrity of the supply chain, as it involves identifying and managing recalled or damaged goods, conducting cycle counts, and investigating inventory variances—activities that prevent stockouts, reduce waste, and uphold regulatory compliance in a high-stakes healthcare logistics environment.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include removing and logging recalled items from inventory with meticulous documentation; identifying and segregating damaged products according to safety and quality protocols; executing putaway of received goods to designated storage locations using proper handling techniques; tasking workflow assignments to prioritize inventory movements; participating in Prime/Reserve cycle counts to validate stock accuracy; conducting investigations for missing stock and inter-location transfers by tracing discrepancies through system logs and physical checks; running and completing operational reports (e.g., inventory adjustments, cycle count results) using warehouse management systems; organizing and tracking emails requiring cycle count follow-up to ensure timely resolution; and maintaining the chase area—including regular cycling of high-turnover or sensitive items—to prevent congestion and ensure audit readiness.
- • The Inventory Control team operates within Cardinal Health’s Piedmont, SC distribution center, a key node in the company’s nationwide network serving hospitals, pharmacies, and alternate-site care providers. The team collaborates closely with receiving, shipping, and quality assurance departments, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Employees are empowered to contribute ideas for process optimization and are supported by leads and supervisors who provide guidance while encouraging ownership of daily tasks.

You will also gain exposure to healthcare-specific inventory regulations and quality standards, building a foundation for advancement into lead coordinator, inventory analyst, or supervisory roles within Cardinal Health’s growing logistics operations.
