📋 Description

• As an Investment Banking Coach at Leland Technologies Inc., you will play a pivotal role in democratizing access to elite career guidance by mentoring aspiring investment bankers through one-on-one virtual coaching sessions, directly contributing to the company’s mission of unlocking human potential through expert-led education and career support.
• Your expertise will empower students and early-career professionals to navigate the highly competitive investment banking recruiting process with confidence, helping them refine their resumes, master behavioral and technical interview techniques, and understand the unwritten expectations of top-tier firms—thereby increasing their chances of securing offers at bulge bracket and elite boutique banks.
• Day to day, you will conduct personalized 1:1 coaching sessions via video conference, tailoring each interaction to the mentee’s background, target firms, and current stage in the recruiting cycle, whether they are freshmen exploring finance or seniors preparing for superdays.
• You will provide detailed, actionable feedback on resumes and cover letters, leveraging your own experience at leading investment banks to highlight relevant achievements, quantify impact, and align content with what recruiters at Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and similar institutions prioritize.
• You will simulate real technical and behavioral interviews, asking industry-standard questions (e.g., DCF modeling, LBO basics, accretion/dilution, ‘Tell me about yourself,’ ‘Why investment banking?’) and delivering constructive critiques on delivery, structure, and technical accuracy to build mentee confidence and competence.
• You will guide mentees on networking strategies, informational interview etiquette, alumni outreach, and how to effectively leverage LinkedIn and campus resources to build meaningful connections within the finance industry.
• You will stay current on evolving recruiting timelines, firm-specific processes, and market trends in investment banking to ensure your advice remains relevant and timely, sharing insights on seasonal hiring patterns, diversity initiatives, and emerging deal activity.
• You will collaborate with Leland’s internal coaching team and product specialists to refine coaching methodologies, contribute to resource libraries (e.g., sample answers, case study frameworks), and participate in periodic training sessions to maintain high-quality, consistent service delivery.
• You will operate as an independent contractor with full autonomy over your schedule, setting your own hourly rates and availability, allowing you to balance coaching with other professional or personal commitments while still making a meaningful impact.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience working in investment banking at a top-tier firm (e.g., bulge bracket, elite boutique, or major middle-market bank) with direct involvement in recruiting, interviewing, or hiring analysts or associates.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear, structured, and actionable feedback on resumes, cover letters, and interview responses, grounded in real-world recruiting expectations from leading financial institutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to build rapport quickly, deliver feedback empathetically, and adapt coaching style to diverse learning backgrounds and career stages.
• Familiarity with core technical investment banking concepts (e.g., financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies, accounting basics) sufficient to conduct mock technical interviews and explain concepts accessibly.
• Commitment to professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality in all coach-mentee interactions, adhering to Leland’s standards for quality and ethical coaching practices.
• Comfort with virtual coaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) and basic digital tools for scheduling, file sharing, and session documentation.
