đź“‹ Description

  • • As Scribe's inaugural IT Manager, you will be the foundational pillar of our internal technology operations and the architect of an exceptional employee technology experience. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to centralize and elevate our core IT infrastructure, encompassing the entire employee technology lifecycle from seamless onboarding to secure offboarding, robust device management, meticulous tool administration, and strategic vendor and license management. You will be instrumental in shaping the IT landscape for a rapidly expanding, globally distributed team of over 200 individuals, establishing the critical systems, processes, and standards that ensure operational efficiency and technological harmony across the organization.
  • • Your primary mission will be to guarantee that every Scribe team member is equipped with a technology setup that is not only seamless and efficient but also inherently secure from their very first day. This role is ideal for a proactive and visionary individual who derives satisfaction from building scalable IT infrastructure, implementing redundancy measures, engaging in hands-on, cross-functional collaboration, and witnessing the tangible impact of their work resonate throughout the entire company. If you are passionate about creating robust, user-centric IT solutions, this is your chance to make a significant mark.
  • • In your initial 3–12 months at Scribe, you will be tasked with taking complete ownership of the end-to-end employee technology lifecycle. This includes designing and implementing a process for onboarding, offboarding, device provisioning, account setup, and access management that is not only seamless and secure but also inherently scalable to accommodate our rapid growth. You will manage Scribe's entire device fleet, overseeing laptop procurement, imaging, configuration, deployment, and returns. This will involve leveraging Apple MDM tooling and Kandji to ensure all endpoints are consistently enrolled, configured according to our security standards, and remain compliant.
  • • You will assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration of our identity and access management systems. This includes managing user provisioning and deprovisioning, overseeing SSO application management through Okta, configuring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for enhanced security, and conducting periodic access reviews to maintain the principle of least privilege. As the primary point of contact for internal IT support, you will expertly troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues for both our remote and in-office employees, delivering swift and empathetic resolutions.
  • • A key aspect of your role will be the comprehensive ownership of SaaS tool administration across Scribe's diverse technology stack. You will manage software licenses, diligently track usage patterns, evaluate and recommend new tools to enhance productivity, and ensure both cost-efficiency and compliance with our IT policies. In close partnership with the Information Security team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and strengthening our security controls. This includes managing device encryption, ensuring timely patching, deploying and managing endpoint protection solutions, and governing user access to uphold our security posture.
  • • You will be a vital contributor to our SOC 2 compliance efforts. This involves maintaining robust internal IT controls, meticulously documenting security practices and procedures, and actively collaborating with relevant teams to ensure audit readiness. Furthermore, you will manage relationships with our outsourced providers responsible for office infrastructure. This includes overseeing physical network components (e.g., WAN/WLAN, IDF/MDF, VLAN configurations), managing AV systems, administering badge access controls, and coordinating effectively with all related vendors.
  • • A significant part of your contribution will be building and maintaining clear, comprehensive IT documentation. This includes creating process guides, detailed runbooks, and extensive knowledge base articles. The goal is to ensure that all IT workflows are not only repeatable and transparent but also easily understandable for both technical and non-technical team members. You will be empowered to continuously evaluate and improve our IT workflows and tooling. Your efforts will focus on driving automation, minimizing manual tasks, and ensuring that our IT operations can scale effectively in lockstep with the company's ambitious growth trajectory. This role is for a proactive builder who thrives on creating efficient, secure, and scalable IT solutions that empower every employee at Scribe.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 6+ years of experience in IT operations, IT administration, or a similar IT generalist role, with a strong preference for experience within fast-growing SaaS or technology companies.
  • • Deep, hands-on expertise with macOS device management, identity and access management platforms (Okta is a mandatory requirement), and proficiency with the core SaaS stack commonly used in modern tech companies (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Notion).
  • • Proven track record as a builder, with demonstrable experience in establishing new IT processes from the ground up or significantly enhancing existing ones, including onboarding workflows, device lifecycle management, comprehensive documentation, and SaaS governance.
  • • Ability to operate autonomously and proactively identify and address IT needs, prioritizing tasks effectively without constant supervision, and anticipating future requirements.
  • • Demonstrated comfort and capability in managing the full spectrum of IT responsibilities as the sole IT professional in a company exceeding 200 employees.
  • • A strong security-first mindset, with a thorough understanding of best practices in areas such as Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), endpoint protection, least-privilege access principles, and device compliance.
  • • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively support and interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • • Ownership mindset: Employees receive equity in Scribe, sharing in the company’s long-term success.
