đź“‹ Description
- • As an IT Operations Automation Engineer at Hopper Inc., you will be a pivotal technical solutions expert, entrusted with the critical responsibility of developing, facilitating, and overseeing automation initiatives within the IT Operations department. This role is designed for a "first-principles" thinker, someone who possesses the unique ability to deconstruct complex technical challenges into their fundamental elements and then meticulously rebuild them using automated logic. Your primary objective will be to drive significant advancements in operational maturity across the IT landscape, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be multifaceted and dynamic, centered around the core of IT operations and automation. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to building and maintaining essential automation platforms. This includes the development and upkeep of a robust Automation Service Gateway, which will serve as the standardized mechanism for exposing and securing various services within IT Operations. This gateway is crucial for ensuring consistent access control and operational integrity. You will also be tasked with proactively identifying opportunities where automation can yield the greatest impact. This involves a deep dive into existing processes, recognizing manual workflows, and conceptualizing new, automated solutions. The development of these new processes must adhere strictly to best practices for development, rigorous testing, and seamless implementation, ensuring that the automated solutions are not only effective but also reliable and maintainable. A key aspect of this role involves close collaboration and partnership with various stakeholders across the organization. Your goal will be to work hand-in-hand with these teams to systematically replace inefficient manual workflows with scalable, compliance-driven systems. This collaborative effort ensures that automation efforts are aligned with broader business objectives and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, you will be expected to provide advanced Tier 2 and Tier 3 support and troubleshooting for the systems you manage and develop. This includes diagnosing complex issues, coordinating effectively with external vendors and internal technical teams when elevated levels of support are necessary, and ensuring swift resolution to minimize operational disruptions.
- • You will be joining a dynamic and well-funded startup environment at Hopper Inc., a company with substantial ambitions and a proven track record. The IT Operations team is a crucial component of Hopper's mission to become the leading global travel platform. This team is instrumental in supporting the mobile app, website, and the B2B business, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions). You'll be part of an entrepreneurial culture that actively encourages pushing limits and embracing calculated risks as part of everyday business. The team values open communication with management and company leadership, fostering an environment where ideas can be shared freely and transparently. Working within small, dynamic teams means that your contributions will lead to a massive impact, allowing you to see the direct results of your efforts and innovations. This collaborative and impact-driven atmosphere is key to Hopper's success and rapid growth.
- • In this role, you will have unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and skill development. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in IT operations and automation. Specifically, you will deepen your expertise in building and managing critical automation platforms, enhancing your proficiency in scripting languages like Python and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. You will also gain invaluable experience working with cloud environments like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), identity and access management solutions like Okta, and productivity suites like Google Workspace, all within a high-growth, fast-paced tech company. This role offers the chance to not only apply your existing knowledge but also to learn and master new skills, contributing directly to the company's strategic goals and personal career advancement. You can achieve significant professional milestones by successfully implementing scalable automation solutions that directly enhance operational efficiency and compliance, thereby making a tangible difference in a leading travel technology company.
