- • As an IT Project Manager at BMC Software, Inc., you will be instrumental in steering the planning, direction, and coordination of critical departmental and organizational projects and initiatives. Your primary objective will be to ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved within established timelines and budgetary constraints, adhering strictly to the ITS project management lifecycle and governance processes.
- • You will be responsible for overseeing all stages of IT projects, from initial feasibility studies and meticulous planning through design, development, rigorous testing, successful implementation, and final project closure. This comprehensive management approach ensures a structured and controlled project execution.
- • A key aspect of your role will involve leveraging the enterprise PPM (Project Portfolio Management) tool for efficient project management and seamless team collaboration. This includes utilizing its features for planning, tracking, reporting, and communication, ensuring all project activities are logged and visible.
- • You will be tasked with building and leading dynamic, cross-functional project teams. This involves identifying the right talent, fostering a collaborative environment, and empowering team members to contribute their best work towards project success.
- • Developing, resourcing, and meticulously managing project work plans will be a core responsibility. This includes defining tasks, estimating effort, allocating resources, and tracking progress against the plan to ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
- • Facilitating clear and consistent information flow between project team members, senior management, external vendors, and other key project stakeholders is crucial. You will act as a central point of communication, ensuring everyone is informed and aligned.
- • This role requires you to operationalize and manage relationships with external organizations, vendors, and other strategic partners. Building and maintaining strong, productive partnerships will be essential for project success and for fostering collaborative innovation.
- • You will possess a degree of managerial responsibility and decision-making authority for the projects assigned to you, enabling you to navigate challenges and make timely decisions to keep projects on track.
- • Collaboration with fellow PMO team members and other ITS stakeholders is vital for the continuous improvement of BMC Software's ITS project management practices. You will contribute to refining methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance overall project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
- • Partnering closely with customers, IT stakeholders, vendors, and other internal/external project stakeholders to precisely define project scope, develop comprehensive project plans, and ultimately deliver significant customer value through the successful execution of these plans.
- • Coordinating effectively with ITS Resource Managers to identify and assign the most appropriate staff to projects, ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of all project work.
- • Scheduling and leading essential project status meetings, working sessions, and other necessary forums to ensure projects are progressing according to plan and that all stakeholders are kept thoroughly informed about relevant project details and any potential deviations.
- • Strictly adhering to IT PMO standards, which includes following the established IT project management lifecycle, utilizing standard templates and designated storage locations, and maintaining compliance with standards related to the use of the enterprise PPM tool.
- • Ensuring that all project stakeholder information requirements are clearly identified and proactively addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
- • Diligently maintaining up-to-date project status information within the enterprise PPM tool and regularly communicating project status to all appropriate stakeholders through various channels.
- • Proactively identifying, meticulously documenting, and effectively facilitating the resolution of project issues and risks, employing expert judgment to escalate critical matters to appropriate leadership in a timely manner to mitigate potential impacts.
- • Creating and meticulously maintaining project schedules that accurately reflect progress to date against the original plan, providing a clear and realistic view of project timelines.
- • Ensuring that all project documentation is complete, accurate, and auditable, meeting compliance and governance requirements.
- • Preparing and delivering impactful project-related presentations to project stakeholders, governance committees, and other relevant audiences, effectively conveying project status, key decisions, and outcomes.
- • Actively contributing to IT project management continuous improvement activities, sharing insights and participating in initiatives to enhance project delivery capabilities across the organization.
