📋 Description

• As a Java Engineer on Adyen’s Card Payments team in Singapore, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the full payment lifecycle for card-based transactions (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) across the APAC region, directly enabling merchants like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft to process payments securely and efficiently at scale.
• You will design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance, distributed systems that handle authorization, clearing, refunds, settlement, and dispute flows — ensuring reliability, security, and scalability for millions of daily transactions.
• You will work within a diverse, inclusive, and globally distributed engineering team that values ownership, rapid iteration, and technical excellence, where your code goes live within weeks and impacts real-world financial infrastructure.
• You will collaborate across time zones and functions to review code, provide feedback, and improve platform robustness, while contributing to Adyen’s mission of delivering innovative, ethical financial solutions that help businesses grow faster.
• You will gain deep expertise in modern Java-based financial systems, cloud-native architectures (AWS), and high-throughput transaction processing, positioning you as a specialist in fintech engineering with opportunities to lead projects and shape core platform capabilities.
• You will strengthen your skills in test-driven development, RESTful API design, ORM frameworks (MyBatis), and distributed databases (PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, Elasticsearch), while working in an environment that encourages continuous learning, ownership, and career growth.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Java (object-oriented programming), with hands-on experience in Java 17 or similar versions
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful web services and working with SQL/PostgreSQL databases
• Familiarity with modern development tools and practices including Gradle, Tomcat, AWS, and ORM frameworks like MyBatis
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to take ownership of features from design to production, write testable code, and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
