- • As a Junior Backend Engineer on the Discovery team at Wolt, you will play a key role in shaping how millions of users discover restaurants, groceries, and other services across the app’s most visible and impactful surfaces.
- • You will design, build, and operate high-performance backend services primarily in Kotlin and Go, with Python as a plus, powering discovery features such as homepage views, category browsing, and vertical experiences like groceries and electronics.
- • You will own your services end-to-end — from requirements and design through testing, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and on-call — while collaborating with product, frontend, data, and machine learning teams to deliver features like search, ranking, and personalization.
- • You will work in an AI-first engineering environment where you design workflows for AI agents, build internal tooling to enhance AI-assisted development, and continuously evaluate emerging models and tools to improve team productivity and reliability.
- • You will drive technical excellence by reducing tech debt, proposing architectural improvements, running A/B tests and feature flags, and ensuring observability through logging, tracing, and incident response.
- • You will grow your expertise in scalable systems, product-minded engineering, and AI-augmented development while contributing to a high-impact, fast-moving team that values ownership, curiosity, and cross-functional collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • Solid engineering fundamentals with 1–2 years of experience building production backend services
- • Genuine enthusiasm for AI-first development, including daily use of AI tools and formed opinions on effective AI-assisted workflows
- • End-to-end ownership mindset, taking responsibility from problem breakdown to testing, stability, and successful feature delivery
- • Ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal guidance
- • Experience operating in production environments, including debugging real issues and maintaining reliability at scale
- • Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective work across distributed, multi-team environments
