📋 Description

• Own analytical questions end-to-end by taking business problems, identifying relevant raw data, transforming and modeling it, conducting analysis, and delivering clear, actionable recommendations.
• Partner with Product, Commercial, Medical, and Operations teams to properly scope analytical questions before writing any code, prioritizing understanding stakeholder decision needs over immediate dashboard requests.
• Build and maintain production-grade dbt models for your domain, ensuring they are tested, documented, and version-controlled as critical business assets.
• Create dashboards and data stories in Looker that are simple, decision-oriented, and actively used by stakeholders—favoring clarity and utility over visual complexity.
• Use AI tools like Claude with judgment, leveraging them to increase productivity while critically evaluating output reliability and knowing when to trust or discard results.
• Design, set up, and interpret A/B tests and experiments in collaboration with product teams to evaluate feature impact and drive product decisions.
• Validate inputs, sanity-check outputs, and explicitly flag uncertainty in analyses rather than overstating confidence, maintaining rigor and intellectual honesty.
• Document data sources, definitions, assumptions, and analytical decisions thoroughly as you work to ensure knowledge transfer and ease future maintenance.
• Operate within a modern cloud-native data stack including GCP/AWS, BigQuery, Airflow, Airbyte, dbt, Looker, Mixpanel, and internal integrations.
• Question your own assumptions and outputs by applying skepticism to both external inputs and your own conclusions, frequently asking "Wait, but why?"
• Start from business problems rather than available data, preferring to understand the decision context before accessing or manipulating datasets.
• Connect analytical insights to broader system-level contexts, avoiding narrow analyses that ignore upstream or downstream dependencies.
• Learn rapidly in an unstructured environment, navigating ambiguity and new tools without waiting for perfect briefs or clear instructions.
• Prioritize long-term maintainability over short-term delivery, investing in solid foundations, clear documentation, and reusable assets for future team members.
• Work openly and collaboratively, actively seeking feedback and asking for help before becoming stuck, valuing direct, two-way communication.
• Contribute to data-driven decisions that impact medical students and clinicians across 180+ countries, directly supporting AMBOSS’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes.
• Adapt workflows continuously, expecting tools, processes, and methods to evolve meaningfully within six months of joining.

🎯 Requirements

• Up to 1 year of previous work experience (internships, side projects, or academic work accepted)
• Strong communication skills in English
• Comfort with AI tools (e.g., Claude or similar) and an instinct to use them proactively
• SQL fundamentals: ability to write joins, window functions, and CTEs
• Endless curiosity and a questioning mindset with a habit of challenging assumptions
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, unstructured environments with rapidly evolving tools
