- ⢠Design and implement end-to-end features for Ashbyâs talent acquisition platform, combining visual UI/UX design with full-stack engineering to deliver high-impact product improvements.
- ⢠Redesign and enhance the in-house design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability across the product, enabling other engineers to build beautiful interfaces with minimal friction.
- ⢠Collaborate directly with Product Engineers to improve information hierarchy, scannability, and usability of existing features, such as candidate assessment views and setup wizards.
- ⢠Conduct user research by engaging with Ashbyâs own recruiting team and customers (including Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake) to identify pain points and validate design solutions.
- ⢠Ship iterative product changes rapidly, often releasing to subsets of users within days to gather real-time feedback and refine designs without waiting for perfect conditions.
- ⢠Own the full lifecycle of featuresâfrom problem definition and wireframing to implementation and post-launch iterationâwithout relying on traditional product management processes.
- ⢠Contribute to the development of AI-powered tooling that automates code reviews, suggests fixes, and prototypes features, leveraging an unlimited token budget for internal AI tools.
- ⢠Improve developer experience by enhancing CI/CD pipelines, debugging tools, and internal abstractions that enable the team to deploy 15+ times per day with minimal friction.
- ⢠Consult on bespoke design requests from Product Engineers, providing both visual and technical guidance to elevate the quality of UI across the platform.
- ⢠Work on a product with over 100,000 weekly active users and millions of candidate interactions per week, directly influencing the experience of recruiters and hiring managers at top tech companies.
- ⢠Participate in pair programming sessions, design system spec reviews, and collaborative design take-homes as part of the interview and onboarding process.
- ⢠Onboard quickly: set up your dev environment with a single script, push your first product change on day one, and progressively take on more complex features with peer support.
- ⢠Attend two company-wide in-person gatherings annually and receive a budget to meet with teammates in your region.
- ⢠Write detailed documentation and proposals to communicate design decisions and technical trade-offs across time zones, prioritizing deliberate written communication over meetings.
- ⢠Maintain a balance between creative design exploration and technical execution, ensuring that visual aesthetics and engineering constraints inform each other throughout development.
- ⢠Contribute to a culture of minimal process, high ownership, and natural collaboration, where engineers lead projects from concept to delivery without rigid gatekeeping.

- ⢠Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and CSS for frontend development and UI implementation.
- ⢠Demonstrated ability to design and ship user-facing features with strong visual taste and attention to detail.
- ⢠Experience working in both design and engineering capacities, with projects that showcase proficiency in both disciplines.
- ⢠Comfort with rapid iteration and shipping features to real users without waiting for perfection.
- ⢠Ability to work autonomously, own end-to-end projects, and communicate progress without heavy process or oversight.
- ⢠Experience or strong interest in contributing to and improving a design system used by multiple engineers.
