📋 Description

• As a Junior Software Engineer at Loveholidays.com Ltd, you will play a vital role in supporting the company’s mission to become the global leader in packaged holidays by contributing to the development and maintenance of a petabyte-scale data platform and related systems that power customer experiences, pricing, and booking workflows.
• You will work within the Data Engineering team, which is central to Loveholidays’ data-driven culture, helping to build self-service tooling for data ingestion, transformation, and discovery while ensuring data reliability and accessibility across the organisation.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include adopting and applying Loveholidays’ engineering principles, building and running scalable cloud-based services, collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and product managers, implementing maintainable and well-tested solutions with a focus on business impact and observability, and understanding the broader business context to design systems that meet both short- and long-term goals.
• You will contribute to supplier integration systems, participate in the development of search and recommendation engines, work on real-time pricing components, support domain modeling for booking and payment systems, assist in developing AI-powered solutions, and help build modern user experiences via web and mobile applications.
• Through this role, you will gain hands-on experience with a diverse technology stack including TypeScript, Java, Golang, Rust, Python, and SQL, develop foundational skills in algorithms and data structures, deepen your understanding of observability, containers, and cloud environments, and grow your expertise in testing, reliability, and monitoring practices.
• You will also enhance your professional communication abilities in technical discussions and team environments, while being encouraged to learn and specialise in one or more programming paradigms through structured learning and mentorship.

🎯 Requirements

• Foundational understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Familiarity with web services, REST, and HTTP
• Prior coding experience in any programming language (e.g., TypeScript, Java, Golang, Rust, Python, SQL)
• Basic knowledge of observability, testing, reliability, and monitoring practices
• Experience or interest in working with containers and cloud environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in team settings
