Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As an IT Operations Automation Engineer at Hopper Inc., you will be a pivotal technical solutions expert, instrumental in developing, facilitating, and overseeing automation initiatives for the entire IT department. This role is designed for a "first-principles" thinker, someone who possesses the unique ability to deconstruct complex technical challenges into their fundamental elements and then meticulously rebuild them using automated logic. Your primary objective will be to drive significant advancements in operational maturity across Hopper's IT infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be dynamic and impactful. You will be tasked with building and maintaining critical automation platforms, including the development of an Automation Service Gateway. This gateway will serve as a standardized and secure method for exposing IT services, ensuring consistency and robust security protocols are in place. A significant part of your role will involve proactively identifying opportunities for automation across various IT functions. You will then be responsible for developing new processes, rigorously adhering to best practices in development, testing, and implementation to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance. Furthermore, you will act as a strategic partner to stakeholders across the organization, collaborating closely with them to transition manual workflows into scalable, compliance-driven automated systems. This collaborative effort will be key to enhancing operational efficiency and reducing human error. In addition to development and strategic partnership, you will provide advanced technical support, handling Tier 2 and Tier 3 troubleshooting. This will involve coordinating effectively with external vendors and internal teams to resolve complex technical escalations, ensuring minimal disruption to IT operations.
- • You will be joining a well-funded and proven startup with ambitious global aspirations. Hopper is at the forefront of the travel industry, leveraging massive amounts of data and advanced machine learning algorithms to redefine the travel experience. Our mission is to become the leading global travel platform, powering both the Hopper mobile app, website, and our B2B business, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions). We have developed unique fintech solutions that address critical travel challenges like pricing volatility and trip disruptions, aiming to bring transparency, flexibility, and savings to travelers worldwide. The Hopper app has seen tremendous success, with over 120 million downloads and a strong appeal among Gen Z and millennials, who constitute 70% of our user base. Hopper has evolved beyond a consumer app to become a comprehensive travel fintech provider, commerce platform, and global travel agency, powering services for major brands like Capital One, Nubank, and Air Canada.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the evolution of IT operations through automation, directly impacting the company's operational maturity and efficiency. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in cloud computing, scripting, and system integration. This position offers a unique chance to work within a dynamic, entrepreneurial culture where innovation and risk-taking are encouraged, allowing you to push boundaries and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of small, dynamic teams that drive massive impact, providing ample opportunities for professional growth and career advancement within a rapidly expanding global company.
