📋 Description
- • Serve as the primary in-house legal counsel for BIS Safety Software, providing comprehensive legal support across all areas of the business.
- • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of corporate and commercial contracts, with a primary focus on SaaS agreements, technology licenses, vendor contracts, and customer terms of service.
- • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks associated with the company’s growth as a SaaS provider in safety, learning, and compliance software.
- • Partner closely with the Risk and Compliance team to align legal strategies with operational policies and regulatory requirements.
- • Coordinate with external legal counsel on complex matters, ensuring cost-effective and timely resolution of legal issues.
- • Advise internal teams including product, sales, engineering, and customer success on legal implications of new features, pricing models, data handling practices, and international expansion.
- • Proactively anticipate legal challenges before they arise by staying informed about evolving regulations in software, data privacy, and industry-specific compliance standards.
- • Maintain accurate legal documentation, contract repositories, and internal legal guidelines to ensure consistency and audit readiness.
- • Operate independently with minimal supervision, taking full ownership of legal matters from initiation to resolution.
- • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in contract language, compliance documentation, and risk assessments.
- • Ask insightful questions to fully understand business objectives and translate them into legally sound solutions.
- • Build trusted relationships across departments to foster a culture of legal awareness and proactive risk management.
- • Act as a strategic advisor to leadership, helping the company move forward with confidence while minimizing legal friction.
- • Continuously expand legal expertise beyond core competencies by learning the nuances of the safety and compliance software industry.
- • Balance legal rigor with business pragmatism to enable innovation without compromising compliance or liability exposure.
- • Represent the company in legal discussions with clients, partners, and regulators as needed.
- • Stay current on changes in Canadian and international laws affecting SaaS businesses, including privacy regulations, intellectual property, and consumer protection.
- • Contribute to the development of internal legal playbooks, training materials, and policy frameworks to scale legal support as the company grows.
- • Ensure all legal activities align with the company’s mission to transform how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance.
