đź“‹ Description

  • • Join a pioneering company at the forefront of connected hardware-software systems, revolutionizing how organizations gain real-time visibility into their physical infrastructure. We specialize in distributed wireless sensing platforms that combine modular sensor hardware, ruggedized compute systems, and advanced wireless mesh networking. Our innovative technology empowers clients to monitor and interact with physical assets across a wide spectrum of industrial and operational environments, delivering unparalleled insights and control.
  • • As our Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our modular sensor products and compute platforms. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader who can architect and drive the design and deployment of robust mechanical systems essential for large-scale wireless sensing networks. You will be the driving force behind ensuring our hardware performs flawlessly in the most demanding real-world conditions.
  • • Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept generation to high-volume production. You will architect the mechanical foundations of our sensor and compute platforms, ensuring they are not only functional but also highly reliable and scalable. This involves deep dives into material selection, enclosure design, thermal management, and structural integrity, all while considering the unique challenges of wireless communication and distributed sensing.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves close cross-functional collaboration. You will work hand-in-hand with product managers to translate market needs into tangible hardware solutions, partner with electrical and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components with electronic and software systems, and collaborate with test engineers to validate performance and reliability under various conditions. This integrated approach is critical for developing cohesive and high-performing systems.
  • • You will play a key role in bridging the gap between design and manufacturing. This includes working closely with manufacturing teams to refine prototyping and fabrication processes, ensuring that designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective production. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting high-volume production runs and driving design-for-manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, minimizing potential issues and maximizing yield.
  • • When challenges arise in production, you will be the go-to expert, working directly with contract manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Your ability to diagnose problems, propose effective solutions, and ensure consistent quality will be vital to maintaining our production timelines and product standards.
  • • Beyond the factory floor, your involvement extends to the field. You will support the deployment of our hardware systems in operational environments, providing critical mechanical engineering expertise to ensure successful integration and ongoing performance. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in troubleshooting hardware failures encountered in the field, analyzing root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • • As a Lead Engineer, you will also contribute to the growth and development of our mechanical engineering team. This includes mentoring junior engineers, contributing to the refinement of our engineering workflows, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. You will help establish best practices and ensure our team is equipped to tackle future challenges.
  • • This role requires adept project management skills, as you will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently across various development and deployment phases. You will need to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and ensure successful delivery of all assigned projects, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout.
  • • The opportunity you have here is to design and deploy hardware systems that are not just functional but are critical components in real-world applications where unwavering reliability, peak performance, and seamless scalability are paramount. You will be directly impacting industries by providing them with the data and control they need to optimize their operations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • • 10+ years of progressive experience in designing and deploying high-volume hardware products, with a strong emphasis on robust and reliable systems.
  • • Proven experience designing mechanical systems and enclosures for harsh outdoor environments, demonstrating a deep understanding of factors such as IP67 ingress protection, MIL-STD compliance, UV resistance, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • • Demonstrated expertise in tolerance analysis for both prototyping and high-volume production, ensuring design integrity and manufacturability across different scales.
  • • Hands-on experience with critical environmental testing methodologies, including shock, vibration, thermal cycling, and EMC testing, to validate product robustness.
  • • Extensive experience designing for a variety of manufacturing processes, including precision machining, injection molding, casting, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • • Strong proficiency in performing thermal and structural analysis using FEA tools to predict and optimize product performance under various load conditions.
  • • Familiarity with PCBA packaging considerations and RF system integration challenges within mechanical enclosures.
  • • Advanced proficiency with CAD tools, such as SolidWorks, for 3D modeling, assembly design, and generating manufacturing drawings.
  • • Comprehensive understanding and practical application of ECO (Engineering Change Order), BOM (Bill of Materials) management, and the creation of detailed manufacturing documentation.
  • • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and production drawing standards to ensure clear and unambiguous communication with manufacturing partners.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Generous paid time off and holidays.
  • • Opportunities for professional development and continued learning.
  • • Collaborative and innovative work environment with a talented team.
  • • The chance to work on cutting-edge technology with a significant real-world impact.
