Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the design, implementation, and operational reliability of DISA’s hybrid enterprise network spanning on-premises data centers, remote offices, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- • Serve as technical lead for a team of Network Engineers and NOC members, assigning and prioritizing daily/weekly work, managing the Network On-Call Rota, and providing escalation support and mentoring.
- • Own and continuously improve core network services including firewalls, VPN, LAN/WAN, load balancing/SSL offload, centralized network management, and NOC operations, defining standards, runbooks, and guardrails.
- • Design and operate cloud network components in Azure and AWS, including VNet/VPC, subnets, routing tables, security groups/NSGs, and hybrid connectivity via VPN and ExpressRoute to support application migration and cloud landing zones.
- • Lead Zero Trust Micro-Segmentation (ZTM) initiatives by implementing default-deny policies, segmenting traffic across on-prem, Azure, and AWS environments, partnering with application owners for traffic validation, and leading hypercare during post-change stabilization.
- • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for firewalls and cloud networks using Terraform, and automate network configurations through PowerShell, AWS CLI, and Python scripting to reduce manual toil and configuration drift.
- • Plan and execute all network changes through formal CAB, standard, and emergency change processes, ensuring pre-change communication, post-change testing, and audit-ready documentation.
- • Manage and maintain a diverse fleet of network devices including Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, Cisco Meraki, Nexus, Arista, Citrix Netscaler, and Cisco routers/switches.
- • Coordinate incident response with NOC and cross-functional teams, triaging and resolving outages with clear ServiceNow ticketing (including impact, source/destination, timestamps, and evidence) and capturing lessons learned.
- • Ensure actionable network telemetry through monitoring platforms such as Nagios, LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, and Sumo Logic, improving alert quality and reducing noise to enable effective NOC first-response.
- • Partner with vendors and internal teams on troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, and lifecycle planning, ensuring compliance with licensing and capacity requirements.
- • Maintain accurate, up-to-date network documentation including diagrams, traffic flows, routing rules, and operational procedures, and develop AI-managed documentation for usability by engineers and NOC operators.
- • Drive operational excellence in change management, incident response, cross-team communication, and documentation standards across all network environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience)
- • 7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience spanning LAN/WAN, routing/switching, VPN, and network security
- • Advanced hands-on expertise with Palo Alto firewalls and enterprise switching/wireless platforms (Cisco Meraki, Nexus, Arista, Cisco)
- • Proven ability to design and implement network segmentation and least-privilege security architectures
- • Cloud networking experience in Azure and AWS (VNet/VPC, NSGs/security groups, VPN, ExpressRoute)
- • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, and automation via PowerShell, Python, or CLI tools
🏖️ Benefits

- • 401k with a highly competitive match
- • 11 Paid Holidays
- • Medical/Dental and Vision coverage
