Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Lead Product Manager, Developer Experience at Klaviyo, Inc. is a strategic role focused on transforming the internal developer environment to accelerate engineering velocity, improve reliability, and enhance developer satisfaction by treating engineers as primary customers.
- • The role requires 3 days per week in the Boston office and involves shaping Klaviyo’s AI-first engineering organization by defining product strategy, driving measurable outcomes, and ensuring sustainable, scalable tooling and practices.
- • What the person will do day to day:
- • Define and execute the product strategy for Klaviyo’s developer environment, aligning with the ‘Need for Speed’ initiative to significantly improve engineering velocity, developer experience, and software quality.
- • Partner with Engineering leaders across Developer Infra, SRE, and product teams to identify pain points in the software development lifecycle (coding, testing, deployment, maintenance) and prioritize investments that boost productivity and engineer satisfaction.
- • Institutionalize AI as a force multiplier by integrating autonomous code agents, AI copilots for code review and testing, and other AI-first practices to reduce toil while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- • Establish and track key success metrics including PR throughput, cycle time, change failure rate, developer experience index, and AI tool adoption to measure impact and guide iterative improvements.
- • Collaborate with SRE and QE teams to ensure reliability and safety are embedded in all developer workflows, ensuring that increased velocity does not come at the cost of increased incidents or defects.
- • Guide long-term architecture and tooling decisions to ensure the developer experience remains sustainable, scalable, and future-proof as Klaviyo’s engineering organization grows.
- • Build instrumentation, run developer surveys, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to validate impact, challenge assumptions, and continuously refine the developer experience based on evidence.
- • Foster transparency and open feedback loops with engineers, engineering managers, and leadership to drive alignment, adoption, and continuous improvement of developer tooling and practices.
- • About the team or company:
- • Klaviyo is building a world-class, AI-first engineering organization and empowers creators to own their destiny by making first-party data accessible and actionable, with a mission to delight customers through personalized experiences in ecommerce and beyond.
- • The company values diverse backgrounds and experiences, offers a hybrid work model (3 days/week in Boston), and is committed to equal opportunity, privacy, and responsible AI use, including providing accommodations as needed.
- • What the person can learn or achieve in this role:
- • Shape the future of Klaviyo’s internal developer platform and leave a lasting impact on how engineers build, test, and release software at scale.
- • Gain deep expertise in AI-driven developer tooling, engineering productivity metrics, and platform strategy while influencing culture and practices across a fast-growing, innovative technology company.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as an Engineering leader turned Product thinker, Founder, or product leader for developer platforms, infrastructure, or tools, with a track record of improving engineering velocity and reliability.
- • Deep empathy for engineers and demonstrated experience improving developer workflows to make them faster, safer, and more enjoyable.
- • Strong understanding of AI’s practical applications in software development, including the ability to distinguish hype from tangible value in AI-powered tooling.
- • Fluency in engineering productivity and quality metrics such as PR throughput, cycle time, change failure rate, incident rates, and developer experience indices.
- • Ability to influence senior engineering leaders (Infra, SRE, QE, product teams) without authority and drive collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- • Bias for action, with a proven ability to balance short-term wins with long-term strategy and a preference for automation and self-service solutions.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Participation in Klaviyo’s annual cash bonus plan and variable compensation (OTE) where applicable.
- • Equity awards as part of the total compensation package.
- • Comprehensive health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
- • Sign-on payments may be offered depending on candidate qualifications and location.
- • Access to Klaviyo’s career development resources and commitment to employee growth and inclusion.
- • Hybrid work model with 3 days per week in the Boston office to foster collaboration and connection.
