- • Write clean, maintainable Python code to build and enhance an in-house insurance rating engine.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement features within a shared, version-controlled Python codebase.
- • Design and maintain both back-end and front-end components of systems supporting the insurance rating lifecycle.
- • Partner directly with business stakeholders across underwriting, pricing, claims, and product teams to gather requirements and translate complex operational needs into technical solutions.
- • Analyze customer and claims data to validate and improve the accuracy of insurance rating logic and algorithms.
- • Learn and apply Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance concepts, products, and regulatory frameworks to inform software development decisions.
- • Debug and resolve data quality issues with a focus on root cause analysis to ensure system reliability and integrity.
- • Contribute to the development of internal tools and utilities that improve operational efficiency and automate manual processes.
- • Engage in end-to-end software development, from requirement gathering to production deployment, ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable.
- • Work within a centralized Data & ML/AI department that leverages modern technologies including Databricks, dbt, GitHub, Hex, and Arize.
- • Develop in-house production-grade software using Python and related technologies to transform first-party and third-party data into actionable business insights.
- • Participate in a self-organizing team culture that values accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
- • Work remotely across the United States with the option to collaborate in person at one of PURE’s office locations, including White Plains (NY), New York (NY), Warren (NJ), Chicago (IL), Boston (MA), Charleston (SC), Atlanta (GA), Fort Lauderdale (FL), Scottsdale (AZ), San Francisco (CA), and San Diego (CA).
- • Complete an initial one-week onsite onboarding at a PURE office location prior to transitioning to remote work.
- • Contribute to a culture of courage over comfort, embracing challenging problems and fostering innovation through open dialogue and diverse perspectives.
- • Act as both a student and teacher by sharing knowledge, seeking feedback, and supporting team growth through mentorship and collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Python with experience in large-scale codebases and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in a role involving Python development and data analysis
- • Experience building internal tools or applications that solve business problems and improve operational efficiency
- • Experience debugging and resolving data issues with a focus on root cause analysis
- • Experience with front-end development in JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus
- • Experience with production deployment patterns is a plus
