Lead Software Engineer, JavaScript TypeScript (Remote)

📋 Description

• • Architect and deliver robust, scalable back-end services in Node.js that power Bjak’s award-winning insurance marketplace serving millions of users across Southeast Asia. You will own the full SDLC—from translating product requirements into technical design, writing clean TypeScript code, peer-reviewing pull requests, to deploying containerized micro-services on AWS.
• • Champion best-in-class engineering practices: enforce linting rules, automated unit/integration tests (mocha/chai), CI/CD pipelines, and observability dashboards. Your leadership will raise code-coverage from 70 % to 90 % and cut mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR) by 30 % within the first six months.
• • Collaborate daily with Product Owners, UX designers, data scientists, and customer-support squads in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Run agile ceremonies, groom backlogs, and break epics into sprint-sized stories that deliver incremental value every two weeks.
• • Build and maintain secure RESTful APIs that integrate with MongoDB, Redis, and third-party insurance carriers. Optimize query performance, implement caching strategies, and ensure PCI-DSS compliance for payment flows handling thousands of transactions per minute.
• • Contribute to our React/Next.js front-end when needed, ensuring pixel-perfect UI fidelity and responsive design across mobile and desktop. Mentor junior engineers on React hooks, state management, and accessibility standards.
• • Debug and refactor legacy codebases, turning brittle monoliths into resilient, horizontally scalable services. Document architecture decisions in Confluence and run brown-bag sessions to share knowledge across the org.
• • Drive innovation by prototyping new features—AI-driven policy recommendations, real-time chatbots, and dynamic pricing engines—then A/B test them with live traffic to validate business impact.
• • Provide 24×7 tier-2 on-call support on a rotating basis. Use Postman/Newman for regression testing and Datadog for alerting, ensuring 99.9 % uptime for our Indonesian users.
• • Stay ahead of the curve: evaluate emerging tech (NestJS, GraphQL, serverless) and propose adoption roadmaps. Publish internal tech blogs and represent Bjak at regional meetups to strengthen our employer brand.
